12 months warranty, and a couple of days past 12 months,Murphy's law says it will pack up.  now when i buy electrical goods and get offered an extended warranty i take it,especially when its only $60 or $80 more.

Hey Steve (the UK one)

I think there is some program or applcation you can download which will stimulate all the pixels in a sort of forced refresh ,, and may fix the problem (worth doing a google)

Do you know what type/make of panel it is, and what colour is the pixel lit, or is it always off?

Not there is much hope to get it working, but once in a blue moon you can do something with them.

No idea of the panel (am at work atm)

It.. just.. appeared.

So annoying as when watching a widescreen film it's there in the middle of the black band. It only shows up against a black ()or pink background.

Hey Dazz I tried an option in the monitor menu which says "refresh" but it didn't do anything obvious. I'd be keen to clear the stuck red pixel but as Lorian says I'm not holding my breath. I'll try a googly, but as it's only money I may go out and get a new one this lunchtime.

Grrrr

Jeepers  I don't think I would replace it for just a pixel or two...

Yeah but it's bright red, as in the pics

I know it's there so I keep looking at it

Remeber to check it thoroughly when it arrives as its much easier to return it under distance selling regs than to return it as fault with dead pixels (I know that would be really bad luck).

Plenty of pixel tester programs on the net.

Edit: Oh scratch that, I see you are picking it up, so this doesn't count.

Yup, should have it in around 3 hours. Thanks for the help. Really handy passing Scan on the way home :)

I have an acer 24" monitor must be at least 18 months old now (with no probs) Mine is full HD but not LED .. Yours should be nice monitor. I paid A$499 after cashback I think (they have certainly come down in that time...)

A new LCD screen for a laptop used to be around A$500 but now they are LED they can be as cheap as A$100 to replace!!!

Cheers. I could have got similar cheaper from Aria or Ebuyer, but as I've had two previous monitors delivered with faulty pixels I decided to do a pick up locally.

Do these things work

It is suggesting that the red on black is fairly common and can be fixed with the manipulation.....

Thanks Brian, I might give that a whirl sometime.

Meanwhile... here using my new LED TFT and all is very nice I must say. Black is actually black, so to speak :D

Child/dog/cat/missus/yourself mind that cord. oops.  insurance claim. :-[

Or you could blame the ash from Iceland and the mid point from an eruption, all that red larvae, caused the red pixel to fuse on

That must be the thing I was thinking of.. Our tech at Radio Rentals mentioned it to me once a long time ago...

Steve might have to get a bigger desk and run two monitors (I have a spare 19" Benq but no room on the desk - 2 printers..)

I shall play with that utility soon enough :).

I've consigned my former monitor to the garage for the time being. Shame really, as it was/is a Hyundai 1920/1080 HD monitor with HDMI input. Also a shame as it was only 12 months (+4 days) old.

Still, it's only money... and this Acer is a cracker in HD
