*stands up* hi my name is ian, im a recovering... nah im just kidding
anyways on friday i put a deposit down on a white i30 diesel 5speed manual so hopefully if all goes well ill take delivery of it sometime next week...
lol ive never owned a new car but my new job called for something small and light on fuel, with me doing 500km - 700km a week running my current 4x4 is getting a bit expensive, and my maxima well i love that car to bits i hate driving it to work plus it guzzles fuel in traffic being a 3.5L V6. anyways i only bought the i30 as a work hack and general run around, i just hope it proves me wrong and is a reliable and good car! i cant wait till i get it!
*edit crazy wording LOL
-
welcome aboard. i think you will love the i30.
-
Welcome :D :D :D

May be your intro wasn't far off the mark as you'll soon be recovering from the shock of handing over the blank cheque
-
howdy am an alkie anaw
-
Hi Ian and welcome
-
Hi Ian and Welcome...
Like your sense of humour... were you a "pom" in another life...
You will not regret getting a manual Diesel (will be ideal for your stated needs)
After she has done her first 1000km take your mum and other "doubters" for a spirited spin on a winding road with hills  (Tell 'em to hang on)

i like this! but i have a feeling being a FWD diesel its going to understeer like a b!7#% ??? i mean its almost as heavy as my maxima (medium/large car) and its a small car :(
im starting to get excited now... i really cant wait to get it! im sick of driving my dying 4x4 to work... dealer says that they can have it ready by friday if im fast on my side so there is something to look forward to on the weekend :)
-
Hi again AGENTR31 .. I think you are in for a surprise too (I'm assuming it is the 115hp model) Lots of torque and a sure footed on-road feel... (not as quick as your Maxima but a great daily driver)
-
Welcome Ian!
i have a feeling being a FWD diesel its going to understeer like a b!7#% ???
It won't if it is equipped with ESP
-
hrmm esp doesnt stop understeer from what i have experienced in my maxima, it mearly helps correct it when its happening badly LOL *shakes fist at unsersteer*
but i suppose a lot has changed in the 6 years since the maxima was built and my new hyundai :)
OHH HELLS YEAH i paid for it today should be picking it up tomorrow afternoon after work im bloody stoked aye!
-
...i paid for it today...
:'(

At least it interfears smoothly :)
-
hi and welcome to the club,.... your work...... your not a rally driver are you, thrashing the i30 with big boots saying esp still wont work.. and the i30 is not man enough...stick the v6 in the i30, " yeah baby"
-
yee-haw i picked it up today, love it! for a small car its great 8) LOL i let my dad drive (he is a mechanic mainly a bissan lover) he seemed to be pleasently suprised at how much torque it has! lol *rolls eyes* ahh the how naive of him :P sif i would by a gutless car!
haha no imnot a rally driver, i wish i was, tho i have spent a fair bit of time doing motorkanahs, and a small share of drag racing in the past but mainly for the fun of it and to improve my driving skills!
bwhaha i wont be putting a V6 in it lolz thats insane! im over modifying cars... terrible waste of money it is!
-
I wish many-many pleasant kms :)
Bissan's are great cars
-

Told you so :P
-
hrmm i drove it to work (as i planned to do lol) and what can i say... f***ing beautiful to drive in bumper to bumper traffic... unlike the old 4x4 i was thinking to myself today, why did i punish myself like that by driving that monstrosity to work wish i bought one (i30) earlier, but i suppose had i done that i would not have gone back home to zimbabwe on holiday 2 months ago :( then i would have lost out on seeing family!
-
hrmm its buisness now LOL i bought a boost gauge and turbo timer for it! just looking at installing it now
OMFG all the screws that hold the dash plastics on HAVE BEEN DONE UP UBER TIGHT... im not kidding they are stupidly tight aye but anyway thats no problem, its a bit daunting working on a 3 day old car... im paranoid about doing something wrong
-
Better than being totally loose (mine).
Seems that they've been taught their lesson
-

Haha I get it. "Taught", or rather... "taut" (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/taut)
-
damm aye yours were loose... it would have rattled like mad! one thing i liked was it was quite easy to remove the trims i needed to take off the dash, unlike my maxima... kinda reminds me of the old nissans (mid 80's to mid 90's) the way everything goes together :P
-
it would have rattled like mad!
Yes it did!
Stayed 2 weeks to the dealer (the car not me) 'till beeing totally taught taut (thanks Steve)
-
Welcome AGENTR31 :)
-
thanks guys for the welcome!
i bought a set of fitted seat covers for the idirty today!
but in breaking news it got damaged yesterday at the dealer during its 1000km service... its exactly the reason why i dont take my cars to dealerships and do all mechanical work myself.

Good and not so good m8.. don't keep us in suspenders (I haven't got the legs for them)
What's the damage (can't be to your hip pocket) the service is supposed to be free....
-
it appears they have run it into something and damaged the lower right hand side front of the bumper bar...
-
did the dealer admit to the damage and offer to fix her.?
-
yer i managed to get them to admit fault! they have offered to fix it, but i want a new bar... i think they are thinking they can get away with using those "bumper repair" people who only spray the affected area and leave a horrid blend mark and over spray all over the car, will post tomorrow what happens im gonna go and see them, i dislike talking over the phone to people...
-
ill bet the mechanic gets his a$$ chewed out.
-
dunno aye... i would like to hope so... but i doubt it
-
-
i wouldn't use them to service my car again if that happend to me.
-
mabey thats why they didnt tell me... so i would just drive off and think i did it somehow... to protect the mechanic that did it possibly?
-
i wouldn't use them to service my car again if that happend to me.
i never take my cars to dealers full stop... i dont trust them, i can do everything myself and to a much higher standard then the dealership... im usually not rushed for time (i have another car and a motorbike) plus my old man is a mechanic so when i get stuck i ask him for help!!! i dont even want them to look at the car tomorrow TBH or get anyone there to fix it as i know they will break all the clips and damage things
-
I'm the same as you m8.I've allways done my own work on my cars.but if i do my own services I'm going to blow my warranty out the door.  both of our i30s are our first brand new cars also.
-
yer the warranty thing is a pain in the backside but meh
-
its a good thing to have, but a bit of a restriction on the owner.
-
i dunno aye meh ill make a plan later on HAHA
-
good news my fellow idirty driving friends!
i had a talk to the workshop manager this morning, i didnt trust the service/circus advisor. they are going to fix my car... i said i wanted a new bar not that one touched up and he agreed, even said he would be devistated if it happened to his car and they are going to give me a loan car while mine is off the road...
im still pissed that it happened especially considering the car had 837km on it when it did happen and more cut that its not going to have the original paint on the front bar... they can seldom match the quality, peel and colour that the is done when the car is built... but at least they are going to fix it with no out of pocket expense for me!
-
Excellent, looks like you dodged a bullet then...
-
lol yer i suppose, did i tell you what else happened saturday...
i had my hair cut at the same time as the car was being serviced/damaged! FAIL... i said i want it a bit long on top so i can spike it up/make it a kind of mohawk, i think the barber only heard mohawk as he used #2 and took 2 lines out then shaved the sides leaving me with a 1980s style mohawk.
i was devistated LOL it looked stupid so i had to go and shave my head #2 all over to match it now i look like a skin head
-
I think you are a bit of a "worry" But in a nice way..
Does the term "an accident waiting to happen" ring any bells... (I wish I had a copy od shambles whistling smiley...)
-
lol its only hair! at least now my head is UBER areodynamic
yer i have been described as an accident waiting to happen... *hangs head in shame* LOL
-
theres nothing wrong with a bald head, been a #1 man for over 20 years[damn receiding hairline]good result on your car getting fixed.
-
lol receding hair line, my grand father had a shirt that was rather comical... "its not baldness its a solar panel for a sex machine"
-
ohh ohh i nearly forgot! i bought a set of genuine mud flaps and floor mats today
only took 30min to fit up the mudflaps! LOL pretty good set as well they included all the screws, bolts and clips for them, even tho the only thing you need is the 4 clips for the rear mud flaps as the rest are in the body already  *puts spare screws in the screw jar*
-
WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE JAR
-
lol *shiftey eyes* seeing as i dont have a girlfriend at the moment (to look after my screws) i put my spare screws in a jar... i mean you dont want to loose them HAHA
-
feeewww......I thought you ment lol.....na forget it.
-
hahah good one dogga!!!
anyway today i cracked the sh!7'5, i drive a 100km round trip to work, its usually spent in traffic, this car doenst have a UHF CB in it so i bought a nice one today... to the tune of $500 LOL its a GME TX3440 anyway its a beauty everything is on the "micraphone" so i dont have to go cutting holes anywhere
and i also asked the bloke to throw in a "glass mount" arieal, he did!!! its the same as the mobile phone car kit ones so its not going to look out of place on the i30! so ive got a nice job next weekend :D
i was thinking of mounting it under the center console or passanger seat, taking power from the "power outlet" and running the coax up under the carpet, behind the glove box and up the "a" pillar to the top of windscreen on the left hand side...
-
Welcome
-
so after what seems like FOREVER... apparently my car will be fixed tomorrow... hooray! hopefully they are true to their word and replace my bar WITH OUT DAMAGING the rest of the car... and as a bonus because they didnt have the stuff to do an oil and filter change at the first service they are doing it for free now...
thanks hyundai DONT STUFF IT UP... and ill come back...
-
Sounds good m8
-
i know... almost too good to be true! apparently the manager "forgot about it" and it took going to the dealer principal... ive been UBER busy at work too (doing a shut down) which hasnt helped me in getting on to them...
-
fixed for free isn't a bad price m8.
-

Not in the flesh (only in pix) a couple have posted pix of theirs in place.. I cut a universal one to size but doesn't have small sides like yours would to catch spills..
