Title: GD - 2013 - Factory Radio Replacement
Post by: RatPC on February 08, 2020, 16:19:53
My wife is due to pick up a 2013 i30 next weekend, and it only has the basic stereo.

I would like to upgrade it for something nicer, that has Sat Nav, as her current car has that already.  I've seen a couple of the Android Units on ebay? or are there any other options? Factory Navv Retro fit?

You would be better off "imo" with a Android Auto/Apple Car Play capable unit that can use the phone maps for navigation, you wont need to worry about updating the cars navigation system ever again :)

Many in Australia and a few UK members went the route of swapping over to one of the 2016 i30 GD-03 Cartronic's head units from Australia which are very easy to change over, a direct fit.

A local car audio specialist would also have several options to choose from like some of the nice JVC or Pioneer units available.

So after a bit of deliberation I went for one of the OEM style Android head unit (8 core CPU / 4GB RAM)

It offers the best of both worlds in that it looks OEM, but also gives integrated Sat Nav, and has DAB+ for her as well, plus means i can add a reversing camera to complement the parking sensors too!

Next job this weekend will be fitting it all

@RatPC  very good :goodjob2:

Do they have units to fit the models that come with factory navigation?

Possibly! I don’t know how the factory GPS connector connects but they may be able to provide an adapter too!

Luckily (or not) in my case I need to find a place to install the GPS and DAB antennas

It's not the connections I'm concerned with, factory Nav units have a slightly different shape on the bottom of the fascia so they have to be specific between nav and non nav.

Hi, Thinking of doing the same to my I30. Did you source the android radio on amazon, if so did it have all the connections and was it an easy swap?

thanks

It came from CES AUTOS linked above via their eBay store and came with all the wiring I needed which means all the steering wheel controls work and also the USB port by the aux in too
