I've figured out that the steering clunk caused by a worn power steering coupling is apparently a pretty common fault in the i30. YouTube repair videos reckon it's a 27 minute job, and the part only costs a few bucks. So I'm wondering why Jefferson Hyundai in Mentone wants $450 to do the fix. Can anybody recommend a Melbourne (Australia) workshop who has experience doing these repairs?
Thanks
Steve

Welcome Steve,
I think 27 minutes would be best case Scenario, but $450 is over the top. I recall something like $200 to $250 is where it should be.
What do @nzenigma and @tw2005 reckon?
Cant help with any Melbourne recommendations sorry.
I'll add Melbourne to your title to increase the chances of a Vic member with contacts seeing the thread.

Its a 2.5 hour job, = remove , repair and refit. Done plenty of them myself .
U tube has some really good info & mechanics; but also a lot of utter tosspots. Suggest you have been watching one in action.
Go to our search, it has DIY info, advice to avoid dealers and two QLD repairers . Samford say they are being used by members.

Search "steering knuckle" and a lot of threads come up, hopefully they will contain the info Gary has mentioned..
