Title: "no fault found" I need help.

Hi 
I drive an 2011 i30 auto  . Never missed a service.
I was stopped at the lights and all the lights on my dash came on. Then my car stalled ( it's an auto)

It took 2 goes to get it started

Then as I was driving it off the road I noticed the Speedo and rev counter weren't moving.
So once I pulled over and turned my car off and left it for a minute I turned it back on and it seemed fine.

I had roadside assistance come out no fault found. Them it happened again on 3 days later.

Took 2 weeks to get into first available spot a dealer.
Did the same fault on the way to drop it off.

Dealer had it 8 days found nothing.
Got it back today. Did the fault 3 times on way home and now shudders.

They want me to bring it  back as they can't work out why or what.
I'm terrified to drive it so it will be towed to the dealer

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be.

I'm lost and concerned

Was the engine was still running?

I got my car back. As they couldn't find an issue. On my way home it happened again 3 times and now shudders

Dealer has it back now
I'm at such a loss. It's

I haven't changed the way I drive it or the fuel O use 🙁

I have just been told the crank shaft angle sensor needs to be replaced.

I have no idea when it comes to cars. I hope there not taking me for a ride.

Thanks for the reply.

Something to consider. If you are out of any warranty period, you will be paying the dealer a high hourly rate for an often substandard mechanic to work on your car.
The "couldn't find an issue" is so common, that I am no longer surprised.

If you can find a workshop with older experienced mechanics you will better placed.

The speedo reading is coming from wheel and differential speed sensors. They also give traction control info.(ESP)
The rev counter works on a sensor in the motor.
They obviously dont all fail at once, but their inputs are used in the (ECU) main computer. That is the logical place to look.
Connectors to it or internal component failure. Doubt program failure but could be.
I assume there are no codes???????????. If ECU goes down it probably cant record a code.

As in my reply above, that is the "engine sensor" to the rev counter. Its persistent failure must throw up a code. It is the obvious and most simple component to change. But they didnt do that.  :rolleyes:  However,  I question why the speedo died.
