Hi everyone,
I've been reading this forum for about a month now and I'll be picking up my i30 this saturday.
I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with a scangauge 2 with an auto petrol??
What are the mounting options for the unit? I've read about it going on the steering column, but I can't seem to find any pics.
Also, where should I buy it from?? (I Reside in Perth, Western Australia)
Thanks for everyones help in advance!

Thanks for that!
Would anyone recommend a place to buy it??
I've had a look at these two places
http://www.ample-outdoors.com.au/store/product_info.php?products_id=59
and
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ScanGauge-II-Version-3-17-X-Guage-/250592487303?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3a5879e787

Sorry, but I'm in the UK so cannot help you.
But the eBay link price is very good compared with UK price. Mine cost £120 - AU $212
Same version as well - v3.17
SuperCreep

Ample outdoors seem to be an official dealer, and others have bought from wooders in the past. Best price and full warranty (and firmware 3.17) is what you want.

Hi guys, anyone with a Scangauge 2 able to post a picture where the connection is under the steering column (or thereabouts)? I just bought mine off eBay from a reputable seller (I think a few guys have dealt with them previous). Or even if you could direct me to a topic with mentioned pictures? There seem to be so many topics on this thing, but none I have seen pics of this connection!

Cool! Thanks Shambles. I had a look just now, and all that extra foam around your port is not there on mine... Another UK-Aus difference?

I can't see the pic but presumably that's the knee bolster that was fitted to models since some time in 2009. I believe this was the sole change to move the car from being NCAP 4 star to NCAP 5 star safety rating. I guess you can order it as a spare part. I think have the part number somewhere.
Assuming it's what you see in the pic of course, it might not be!

No, it's a thick (soundproofing?) padding under the dash; the kind of padding that prevents one from reaching up into the guts of the dash. Probably only fitted to the luxury models :P

my scangauge works a treat on my manual, but the wife said don't put that thing near my car so I'm not sure if it does much on an auto. but its not the first time she's said take to that thing away from me.

Yup, that's Fergie's. Took the pic this morning.

its sound proofing... my base model diesel SX has it lol...not that there is a noticible difference in noise with it removed...
