I was trying some seat covers out today and needed to reach under the seats to click the fasteners together. Something sliced through my finger like a knife. After i cleaned up the blood and bandaged myself up i crawled under there with a torch. On both my front seats the mounting brackets have not been filed or grinded on the edges. One of them even had metal splinter filings all over it.
Question...........should i consider this a warranty fix? I would be worried about putting anything under the seats, for fear or another wound.
Everything about the i30 oozes quality so this has really got me angry.
And the seat covers were no good so back to drawing board with that idea. Looks like custom is the only way to go.
Anyone else noticed this on their i30?

i'll check out my cars on the weekend.
-
I have had to reconnect the passenger seat swab to it's fixings under the seat on occasion and have not noticed any sharp protrusions while doing so, will have another look for you over the weekend.
-
I took a look, and my brackets are fine. The only thing that isn't absoloutely perfect is the small bracket holding the body-weight sensors, but you'd be hard pressed to touch that in every day use. Different factory of course.

I cut my hand fairly badly when I recently fitted new seat covers to my i30 too
Not the first time I have encountered sharp edges under a seat so I didn't think to investigate ...
Hope I remember to be careful if I ever take them off :P
-
Went to the dealer today and we checked all the i30's they had and they were all the same as mine. Pretty poor tbh. I am taking my complaint as high as i can go. I want them replaced. This is obviously a fault at manufacturing which was not picked up.
-
Yes I have noticed the metal pressing have not been dressed. Most have sharp edges behind the dash and in the centre console if the trim is removed for any reason
-
Don't you kind-of expect that behind the dash though?
My hands are war-torn from suffering similar edges inside computers over the years.
-
i didnt encounter any sharp edges under the seats when i fitted my seat covers on sunday... mabey your hands are just a tad "soft" compared to mine though...
-
I too fitted seat covers on my 2011 model yesterday
and cut my hands to ribbons under the seats,
so it looks like a common fault that still hasnt been sorted,
it was so razor sharp i didnt feel anything
and only noticed when i saw the claret all over the new covers. :'(

Best not to be drinking wine while fitting the covers :P

What a waste of a good claret :'( I would've sucked it clean anyway - waste not want not (or is that want more?)

Looks like they have used a similar system to that on the i20 gear knob, which was quite nice once I got used to it.
