Title: Parking sensors + removing rear bumper
Post by: diablo on May 20, 2010, 23:08:38
I will probably have to be doing a lot more parking on the side of roads in the near future due to changed circumstances and have been looking at parking sensors. I've managed without for the last 40 years but I think they make sense.

I'm looking at this type -

http://www.parkingdynamics.co.uk/

- which seem to be the best around, at least according to their website and lots of videos on YouTube.

It seems that the recommended way to fit them to the rear is to remove the bumper.

Anyone know how difficult that is ? I might want the front ones as well.

I can't imagine wanting/needing front sensors?

Thanks for the links. Useful to know about the bolts under the wheel arch. :)

Seems like quite a bit of effort to install the things but may well be worth a few hours work.

Havent really looked into it on the i 30 ,
but do you need to remove the bumper???,
The whole time i was working with installing car electronics we never took a bumper off to install these little buggars,
Easieiest way measure then using masking tape run that accross frm left to right then measure and mark with a pen/pencil on the masking tape stand back and check visually (in case of wrong measurements and aspect) Then use a drill hole saw, Drill holes poke wires through and pick them up from the boot or through the tail light areainside the car, wires allready run to number plate lights,
Good luck ,
Steve
