Title: 4th gear creaking

Hi all I lost 4th gear on my manaul i30 (2018) CRDI, actually it is creaking only on 4th gear. Is it clutch or gearbox? When engine is on and handbrake on, I hold the clutch down and try to put 4th gear and is creaking BUT if I hold the clutch down for 3 seconds then it changes smoothly. Of course while moving it is always creaking only for 4th gear. How is that!?

Hello, @piperis.
Creaking is the sound an old door makes when you open it slowly. Do you mean you are grinding the fourth gear or that your clutch pedal is creaking?

I'm tempted to think that you're not getting enough moving of the clutch when you depress the pedal, but I also wonder why only in 4th. We await your next news.

My guesses are:
Adjustment,
Or ,
Synchro.

So, @mickd you are correct. Dealer diagonosιs says that 4th gear synchronizer is malfunctining. It is under warranty so no replacement cost (5-Year Unlimited Mileage Warranty - Age: 2yrs 3mths, Current mileage: 86.000 km). Also, says that I can use the car untill parts arrive. Thnx all!
