I've had my diesel GDe tourer now for over 6 years and it has never been to a dealership service centre.
Apart from the fact that my navigation map is woefully out of date, are there any other software updates that i have missed during my hiatus?
Its it worth taking in?
It has only done around 75k and been serviced at 15k intervals. (Just serviced 3 weeks ago).
Interested in people's thoughts and opinions.

Hi M8,
Seeing as you have just had the 75K service I really can't see the point taking it in now. Had the service been due and you could have negotiated a reasonable price including the latest map update it may have been worth paying an extra 100 or so over what your local guy probably charges. However, the maps would still be relatively out of date even if updated. So I'd just let sleeping dogs lie I reckon.

What was your reason(s) not using a dealer for the previous 6 years?
Whatever your reason(s) will gives you your answer now.
As Dazz says, maps update will be out of date so not worth paying.

I agree. With Apple Carplay, Android Auto, phones and 3rd party GPS uints, the last thing you should be concerned about is dealer map updates.
-
Only concern would be if there have been any ecu software updates for the diesel :undecided:

Yeah not too phased about the maps, was more intetested in other software updates.
Craig got it spot on. Ecu updates for the diesel?
If not, i will keep on keeping on.
Thanks for the input, everyone.

Had our i30 in for 8 year service 74kms earlier this week.
Had been regularly using dealer since new.
Probably main reason was for map upgrades (none available any longer EOL) plus they offer comp road service should I need it.
Wasn't worried about maps as use my mobile if we can't find a location.
Also car has busn rego so has tax benefits so get a disc there also.
