So im looking for some new summer tyres, and want to upgrade from the original 15" rims. There are a couple of options with regard to size, but I am unsure about how wide I can go before running into problems with the suspension etc.
At the moment I am looking at the recommended 205/55 16, but also 215/55 16 and 225/50 16. Would the wider ones fit?
They do appear as options in online calculators, but am unsure about model specific limitations.

That would depend on the width of the new 16" wheels :undecided:
225 tyres are better suited to 8" wheels.

I see, I guess that´s just a matter of ordering the correct size wheels? But what about whether a wider tyre/wheel will potenially come into contact with brakes, body or suspension etc?

That's where your local tyre/wheel dealership can tell you the correct offset required for the width wheel you're going for.
I'm fairly sure a 7.5 or 8 inch wheel will fit though I'm unsure of the offset needed for an FD model :undecided: there will certainly be other members with aftermarket FD wheels so hopefully a helpful reply will turn up soon.
