Title: 2010 Hyundai Accent Front Suspension Clunk
Post by: Mr.CapeTown on August 24, 2020, 15:08:06
Howzit all

I know this is i30 Owners only but this seems to be the only proper Hyundai Forum I could find.

I have a 2010 Accents 1.6GLS that just did 160 000km. Had the front shocks and strut mounts replaced as the shocks was shot and I notice a clunk noise when going over bumps and imperfections in the road. Well after that was replaced, the noise is still there. I took the car to another suspension specialist and they inspected everything and found nothing. Lower control arms and sway bar links was inspected and all found in good condition.

What else am I missing here. I don't to just throw cash at the car and start replacing parts.

Thanks

Welcome Mr Capetown,

Everyone welcome here (particularly Hyundai owners) I'm no mechanic but hopefully some others can help. We are a worldwide site so it can take a while for replies due to different time zones and particularly this year with all the strange things going on!

Fingers crossed we get some helpful feedback.

I am currently having a similar problem with my 09 CRDi FD, I get this clunk noise when going over bumps. I parked the car and had someone push it vigorously from side to side to replicate and found that the sway bar was loose. Upon trying to tighten, the bolt was just spinning... the problem remains.

Take it  somewhere else for a second oppinion. Check tie rod ends, , bushings of front  stabilaser bar, and other bushings for deformations  , steering rod ends and lastly  steering column rack / pinion.
Oh and a loose brake pad can make similar noise.
My prev car was an Accent and i also have repair manual for it. Let me know if you need it.
My bet would be the steering rack or loose pad.
