Title: PayPal Phishing Text Message
Post by: AlanHo on October 06, 2020, 09:20:14
Like most internet users I have received numerous pishing Emails - but I cannot recall receiving a pishing text message before.

Today I received a text message from mobile +447312675080

Worded as follows

PayPal. Your billing address needs to be updated therefore we have placed a temporary hold on your account. Please visit our resolutions area in link bellow to regain full access to your account

The spelling of the word "bellow" is verbatim and not my typo.

You can see how easy it would be for a frail, old, trusting and gullible person like me, who uses PayPal, to panic, click on the link and fill in the realistic form you are probably presented with. Then have their bank account cleaned out by some scum bag.

I have of course, reported the scam to the authorities.

Sad to say they do walk among us. I had a colleague tell me they had been receiving ‘nuisance’ calls from people asking for bank details etc. the authorities advised her not to antagonise them as they knew her phone number and name..... probably her address also. Not a comforting thought.

I searched that mobile number and there was a British (Welsh I think) FB post, about the scam and someone else had got it as well (only yesterday) I had expected more hits but I guess it takes google bots a while to pick them all up.

So many via email and a few by text at the moment. I find it deplorable.  :fum:

Loaded it up in my sandbox and Edge reported it as unsafe.

Scumbags of the world untie.

I've been getting texts to advise my parcel has been despatched.
Then "It has arrived at the xxxxx Depot.
I don't know what the scam is as I just block and delete them.
