Title: Was this one of or even the oldest original battery in an i30?
Post by: eye30 on January 21, 2021, 14:38:16
So after 13 years and 4 months the battery has been replaced.

Seems the lack of use due to the 3 lockdowns and the recent days of low temps has killed the battery.

Was this one of or even the oldest original battery in an i30?

PS
Originally my car purchased in Sept 2007. Son owns the car now. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210121/b2f55cea7218270075dc52cdefafac2b.jpg)

That's not a bad run at all, generally the cold weather kills them completely when they're on the way out  :goodjob2:

They must be a fairly decently-built unit...

My daughter's car is a 2004 Ford Fairmont (large AU-built 4 litre I6 sedan), I reckon we managed nearly 10 years out of its second battery before it died one winter...but that beats it comprehensively.

I put Firty into 15 months storage in 2016 as we moved to Indonesia for my posting to Staff College. The battery was the original then, since 2009. I often wonder whether it might still be working if not for the storage.
