Title: i30 1.6 2010 blue edition oil leak
Post by: muzicar88 on June 03, 2021, 20:44:03
Hi :)

Id kindly ask you kind lot for an opinion. I noticed at my yearly service (I do it myself) that the left side of the engine (at the side engine timing cover) was a bit oily and lo and behold there is a small oil drop forming. Wasn't sure if maybe some oil got spilled or something so I wiped it down nicely and after 1 month of driving I see that its back. The upper part of the engine is dry as it can be so am thinking theres no way its the valve gasket seal however seeing it now again I am thinking its definetly the timing cover seal (am guessing that seeing it squeezed on the outside is not a good sign :) ) and maybe even the head gasket seal.

Thoughts?

How much work would changing a timing cover seal entail? Is it doable DIY? What about the head gasket seal?
