Title: Oil for GD CRDi
Post by: this guy on July 02, 2021, 12:43:49
Hi all,

Today I had my GD CRDi (without DPF) serviced and when I looked at the invoice I noticed they specified that my car is a GDI when it's not, and it said they put in Castrol Edge Professional 5W-30 ACEA A5 oil. I questioned this and got them to check if it's the correct oil for the diesel, they were adamant that it is. After returning home I checked the owners manual and its says the oil must be ACEA B4, and the sticker on the engine cover also says this. Nowhere on google could I find whether ACEA A5 is interchangeable with B4.

Can anybody shed any light on whether A5 oil is OK to use or should I go back and insist that they put in B4? :scared:

Thanks

A5 is a higher spec and suitable for diesels as detailed in the Product Data Sheet http://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPDS.nsf/Files/4ED931CA43C67E0C80258273001BA161/%24File/BPXE-9VB59X.pdf (http://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/FusionPDS.nsf/Files/4ED931CA43C67E0C80258273001BA161/%24File/BPXE-9VB59X.pdf)
