Title: A Re-Visited Question
Post by: neptune on July 07, 2021, 02:41:42
I asked this question in the appropriate section a long time ago but no-one answer it for me.

So what I am after is that someone can tell me or point me in the right direction . I am after a way to make my steering more direct or if the turn ratios can be alter. I know modern day steering systems are totally different from cars of yesterday year and maybe nothing  can be done..... but who knows. I have looked but can't find anything. Does anyone know?

John, if possible :undecided: and if looking at ratio changes you'd likely require the column and rack from an N to do that in an i30.

Yup, I don't see another way. The turn ratio is set in the rack and pinion geometry. Put a bigger pinion at the bottom of the steering column, in theory, but in practice you'll need a compatible set such as from an N.
