I keep getting requests asking for my date of birth to comply with the law.
For security I haven't responded and I just delete but it reappears a week or so later.
Searching online there are lots of posts about this request and the main two are:
To comply with the law of the country
And
Age restriction sites.
Anyone else had this request.
-
Never had that request before….. but I assume they know everything about me anyhow
BTW
My favourite colour is blue….. I mean red

How is this request manifesting itself? Email? Website popup? Google result window?
-
I'm guessing it's some kind of malware.
-
Without sounding silly…. I just “googled” the age query.
It is trying to protect your eyes from seeing something they may not yet be ready to see……. It is country specific apparently. Are you using a VPN or proxy?

I use DuckDuckGo so maybe that's why I haven't seen it.
-
I reckon Lester's been flogging on to left handed websites :snigger:
-
Haven't noticed reqs asking for mine - but if one is needed I just use an alternative one for anything non-critical

Got the request again today.
It quotes my google email address.
This is the narrative.

I'm curious. Next time you see it, note the source email address.
It may look decidedly non-genuine anyway.
Then again ...

Is it a pop up window on your browser?
Or an email?
Has it prevented you from performing any of your usual internetting?
If in doubt delete and scan for viruses and malware..

It just appears.
There is a spanner symbol in the top bar.

If they really want to contact you, I’m sure they will do more than wave a banner in front of you.
I have found scamming to be rife at the moment….
I had a call from the Australian taxation office recently. They had frozen my bank accounts and the federal police would be beating my door down if I didn’t pay my outstanding debt….. VERY INTIMIDATING, THEY HAD MY ATTENTION…!
I called the accountant…. Who politely reminded me… you pay me to represent you…. If the ATO want you they will call him first and he will point them in my direction.
Delete/ignore and go about your business would be my advice :)

This is the one I get on a constant basis

If 'it just appears' means it's a pop-up, then I'm not surprised only a few are seeing it.
I for one use Brave browser with a number of ad, pop-up and tracker killers, so I doubt I'll ever see it.
-
Sounds like a scam pop up that's activated on certain infected websites when Google browser is detected, clean your browsers history/cookies and get a good Ad blocker.
Personally I use AdGuard in Edge browser :link: AdGuard AdBlocker Browser Extension | Overview | AdGuard (https://adguard.com/en/adguard-browser-extension/overview.html) it's free and it works :)

I should have mentioned if you have a Chromium based browser...eg Edge (Windows 10) - Google Chrome - Vivaldi - Brave - Opera then you can install via the Chrome Web Store :link: AdGuard AdBlocker - Chrome Web Store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adguard-adblocker/bgnkhhnnamicmpeenaelnjfhikgbkllg)

So have you ignored it as well?

Lots of articles on the web about this, seems Google's new requirements under law need an age to be listed in Google accounts which you can do by going directly to your Google account...not via some popup.
Once you have added your age to the account personal information then you shouldn't see the message anymore.
-
And as a tip, (do I need to state it?) you are not obliged to give your actual DOB.
-
I think I'll change my YOB from 1937 to 2011 so I am 10 years old.
Perhaps all the adult spam and adverts will then reduce when they realise I probably only get a few pennies pocket money

This has been my experience with this constant nag for birth date.
I ignored it for months until I had to setup the 'find my phone' app in Google and it wouldn't let me proceed until until I entered my birthday.
Since doing that I haven't had one instance of the nag pop-up.
I might add that I only ever experienced it when using an android device.
My PC uses uBlock Origin as the ad blocker so I guess that's why I never noticed it on the PC.
