I have just come to think about asking this in here, as I have never really gotten an answer anywhere else..
When I bought my i30 here in Denmark, I had a choice between classic and comfort (don't know what the versions are called in other countries)
I wanted the comfort as it had climate instead of just aircon, armrest and several other nice features. After delivery, I discovered that the steering wheel is only adjustable in the height, and not the distance to the driver, or what you might call it.. The Classic version had this feature.
It is not a problem to me, as I find the driving position very nice, but I can't understand why the smaller version has multi adjustable steering wheel, and the comfort is only adjustable in height??
Is it the same story in other countries?

it does adjust... undo the tensioner and PULL IT... i thought mine didnt adjust too but it does
-
Pretty sure they are all adjustable.

hahahaha, nothing too sus!!
-
but yes, like agentr31 mentioned,if the column is unlocked underneath it will push up and down but should also push in and out.
-
mine was soo stiff in the beginning i thought i had broken it... even the sales woman looked at me funny!
-
i knew the column was adjustable from day one,but i found only by misstake it also moves in and out. when i first adjusted the wheel to where i wanted it i forgot to re tighten the lever.i went to move the seat and i pulled on the steering wheel and it moved.
-
hahahaha, what i refer to as a fail/win
where one fail, results in another win!!!
-
I have really tried using force, but it does not move in and out.. Tried again just now after reading the posts, but it does not move an inch..
-
wow you must have the only one in captivity that doesnt move in and out... mabey ask about it next time you get it serviced?
-
I know it may be obvious but have you pulled the release lever?
-
You are going to get the same answer over and over. It's just stuck and if you can't free it you'll have to take it to the dealer who will.
As others have said, it can be quite hard to get it moving the first time, mine was and I thought as you that it must have been unadjustable.
Release the lock and drop the wheel down to the bottom so you are lined up better with the column and push/pull with your hands at 180 degrees till it moves. Don't be afraid to jar it a bit instead of just applying constant pressure but do try to apply even force to both sides of the wheel as pulling on one side will cause it to jam.

sounds like he has already released the lock or he wouldn't be able to adjust it up/down !
sounds like its kna**ered to me
a problem to put on to the dealer

Remove all the plastic stuff and the explosive air pressure cartridge and other detritus and you'll find a large nut, take a spanner to this nut completely removing it and then pull. You can now put the steering wheel anywhere ya wants too......
No seriously, I was a wee bit timid when I first attempted to make an adjustment but overcoming my timidness it moved ok and has not been problem since....
The guys around this neighbourhood tend to really know there stuff and give excellent good advice....
Good luck with it

I think i would be reluctant to do this myself especially removing the explosive cartridge to the airbag,
WHY if the vehicle is under warranty would you attempt something, that if it did go wrong, would invalidate your warranty and possibly affect the built in safety features ??????

When I was test driving the i30, I asked the salesman if the wheel adjusted for length and he said, "no".
So when I got behind the wheel I adjusted it up and down and in and out in front of him and just smiled. He didn't actually blush but was super nice afterewards.
He was a decent guy anyway, just suckered in to selling the Hyundais on the lot shared with the Nissans he normally sold.
-
which nissan did you go to? moorooka?
