Title: Piston slapping with i30
Post by: Sal on November 23, 2021, 02:57:02
Hi has anyone in Australia experienced piston slapping with i30 at low km? My i30 has only done 90000km, serviced mainly and regularly by Hyundai and has piston slapping. Because it's 9 years old Hyundai is only offering 30% off parts only to repair it with an additional cost to me of $10000.
Anyone else with same experience?

I've got a similar age to your with 107,000kms (same engine).  I don't have any piston slap but since new have always had the "weird noise on startup" on a cold engine, that all over the interweb, and still get the diesel clatter timing chain sound after restarting a warm engine that's been sitting for a while.
As a good "parent", I have come to accept that this 1.8L engine aint the best thing around, which probably explains why it disappeard and was never used on newer models..LOL
