Title: Push button start
Post by: Lakes on July 27, 2010, 10:49:55
Well it's been coming back into fashion, but the last push button start car i drove was an old Morris Minor 1,000.
i think it could be cost cutting.
what do you think?
just remember the next stage back before push button start is crank start, i crank started a T Model ford once that was enough!
cheers

Mate. You haven't lived until you've started a VW Beetle by jacking up one rear wheel and spinning it by hand with the car in 2nd or 3rd gear.
It would start and run but not drive off the jack because all the power went to the lifted wheel.
Don't ask me how I learned that ( I forget) but in my younger days it was cheaper than buying a new battery.  :-[ :D

So how did the car move?

To get it off the Jack the car will shoot off and if you are letting the wheel down you'll be ................ well up a creak without a paddle .......... so to speak.

Think they both work like the Lancer VRX and a few others with a proximity sensor it senses if you have the key in close proximity (e.g. in your pocket or in the console) otherwise it won't start...

I quite liked the Kiszashi for handling, ride, interior plus some of the exterior styling.. negatives were/are a bit small inside compared to i45 /camry hybrid and although rated as same ADR consumption as i45 (7.9 LPH overall) in the real world I suspect from feedback in Aussie and US reviews it is a lot thirstier than the i45 (by up to 2LPH according to reports)

No. Once it starts you take it out of gear, leave it idling and let the jack down. Simple really.

thanks dazz, why do you need more room?
i think ride & handling are important.
hey my m8 had a mazda 3 sp25 he told me it gets 12L/100K around town & around 7 on a trip but i think he does more around town driving. i told him i get 5.4l/100k around town 4.4L/ 110k to 4.7L 100k on trip he was surprised, the sp25 is 6 speed manuel. did you test the manuel Suzuki or the CVT?
i only found out about them about two days ago so was surprised you had test driven one :)

I drove a CVT about a month ago (no manual available at that stage) ..

Just find more room nice on longer trips ... A bit like our house (we don't really need 3 living areas and five bedrooms but it is nice just the same)

As mentioned elsewhere...Looks like I might be doing a deal on a new car 2moro (might just be one of my best deals ever) have got on to a demo... ****** (more details shortly)
