Title: Engine stops during driving
Post by: Zzo on June 21, 2022, 09:48:38
2009 FD 5 Door Hatch, Petrol 1.4lt, Manual, Red

Hello

This happened to me already twice, I have to mention that I have been running the Aircon and it was both times very hot outside.
I put E10 petrol in it I am not sure if this can influence or not.

Both times after few hours, after towing up and down on the tow car, it started no problem.

Some people have told me it could be the fuel pump but then I guess it would not start. Someone also told me some fuses can also burst but again would not start after again.
Is there some component which can overheat and cause this?

This did not happen since 4 years.
I may think that is somehow related to heat and/or AC there have been 37 Celsius outside, crazy temp. The car oil level/engine temp did not overshoot. Suddenly the the engine light goes on and I cannot start anymore nor during rolling nor in stop state. First time I tried so much that I killed also the battery.

If anyone had similar problems, please drop a msg.

Hi, look into vapour lock. It occurs when the fuel in the fuel lines heats up and turns into a gasseous state and causes the engine to stop. Heat, altitude and E10 can be a factor.  Used to happen to a few of us at work on 42 Celcius days.
