Title: Buying a 2015 I30 - Clutch Noise!
Post by: AG887 on November 19, 2022, 09:47:11
Hi everyone

I was about to buy a 2015 1.4 I30 but noticed a quite high pitched noise when using the clutch in 1st gear. Is this normal!?

Thanks!

Whilst I do not have the 1.4 model, I do have manual transmission albeit low mileage. I do not hear any noise at all from the clutch, sometimes get a bit of clutch judder in cold damp weather first time out after unused, but that soon clears itself.

I would be suspicious of a clutch making high pitch noise when operated.
What was car mileage and was clutch bite point extreme travel?

Thanks for the reply. It was 70,000 - i put it to the dealer and they replaced it - didnt think it was right.

I went ahead and purchased it and Ive just got it home and the engine sounds strange below - its knocking (from the engine area, just not sure). It doesnt sound that normal to me but i wonder if it could be.

Sounds bit like a noisy tappet, but could be many things. Other forum members with the 1.4 petrol may offer better advice.

Hard to tell, have you listened by the auxiliary belt, maybe a dodgy pulley bearing?
