When the gear stick is in neutral position, if I move it towards gear 1 (left in my country, Finland) I hear a little noise. I put my ear near the gear stick area, and I can hear it comes from the bottom of the gear stick for sure. I am thinking, does it needs some oil of something there? Its like a door which lacks of oil when opening a door.
I saw this video: "HYUNDAI i30 / HOW TO CHANGE THE GEAR KNOB HYUNDAI" ( :link: KAKO ZAMIJENITI RUČICU MJENJAČA HYUNDAI i30 / HOW TO CHANGE THE GEAR KNOB HYUNDAI i30 - YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-sk1kKgZ4sw) ) where they open the gear stick "box" (the leather part). So can I safely open it and investigate what is causing it? Can I put any normal "door oil" there, like WD-40 to try to stop the noise, if parts are causing it by touching each others?

When you are pressing towards 1 do you have the clutch depressed?
If not then I think it is the gears grinding as it tries to engage 1st.
If you press the clutch and do it the gear will engage and no noise.

No, I am not changing gears to 1. Maybe I was not clear. I mean, that the stick is all the time in neutral. So I am not changing gears or trying to move to 1. I mean, that when the stick is in neutral and I move it *horizontally* (all the time in neutral) to the left I hear a little noise. So the stick is making a little noise. I have a feeling its nothing serious because it comes from the stick.... but would like to fix it if possible.
(so, because I am moving it as it is all the time neutral, I am not using clutch)

Ok.
I'll see what noise, if any, mine does next time I go out in the car.
Just as a side.
Next time you do it press clutch in and see if noise carries in.

And don't use WD40, it's not a lubricant, white lithium spray grease would be a better option IF it is needed.

Ok I try. Although I think there should be no noise really even if not pressing clutch.

Ok thanks.

Tried mine today and no noise as such.
I had to strain my hearing and could just make out a very low hum type noise.
Was also when pushing against 2nd as well.
I would put this down to the gears trying to enter and mesh together.
Pushed in clutch and lever went into 1st and 2nd.

I tried with clutch and get the same sound as without. So it is not about the clutch.
