Title: What oil viscosity to use at 240k on ODO
Post by: aik2ka4 on September 11, 2023, 00:46:42
Hi guys

I have got a 2008 1.6 diesel Auto

Can someone confirm what engine oil to use at 240,000 on ODO?
I have gone though the manual and could not find this specific info.
Thanks

Is it burning oil? Is it leaking oil? If neither, then continue to use oil specified in the manual.

I think the general consensus is to use a higher viscosity oil with high mileage vehicles. That being said, if it's not burning oil continue using what you would normally use/factory fill. I have a 2014 1.6 crdi and I am using Total Quartz Ineo MC3 5w30 which is a low SAPS oil recommended by Hyundai/Kia, I pay about £35-40 for 5 litres and have had no issues using it.

I have a high mileage (556,500km) i30 I use 5w-30 in the cooler months and 10w-30 in the warmer months. And change around the 10,000 km mark. I have been thinking of changing the oil at 7,500km if we are doing shorter and stop start trips.
