GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => DIESEL => Topic started by: fetai30 on July 27, 2024, 07:49:06

Hi,
2011 i30 diesel.
I only have one key/remote, but every now and then (I can't find a pattern) it won't unlock with the remote. The little red light on the remote doesn't flash and I hear nothing at the car. Seems to be random.
If I put the key in the driver door and unlock, then lock and then remove teh key and use the remote to unlock this usually fixes the issue/unlocks the car.
I've changed the remote battery, and the car battery as well as unplugging the car battery for an hour.
Any ideas? I did a search but surprisingly couldn't find any other similar issues.
Thanks

Just grasping since you've tried the obvious but try giving the remote's keypad's insides a clean.

Is the rubber pad well worn and finding hard to press the individual key?

The little red light on the remote doesn't flash
To me that is indicative of the remote fob not transmitting. So either bad fob battery, or bad switch contact.

I'll check the fob again. It was just odd that it often works after unlocking and locking the car with the key.
So a 'normal' key should always show the red flashing light when a button is pressed?

Yes, the light on the fob should always light up, I've dropped my keys a few times and slightly dislodged the battery which made the remote not work, just repositioned the battery and all good.
