i noticed that my handle on the rear hatch has water in it. i pulled the hatch down to close it earlier and could hear a sloshing noise. i checked the drain holes in the bottom of the hatch and they are OK.when i shake the hatch i can hear water in the handle. I'm due for another service in November so I'll get it looked at then, shouldn't do any harm to wait till then as the handle is plastic. anyone else noticed this?
-
dunno man... i would be inclined to look into it further sooner... water in a car is never good
it evaporates eventually, goes to the highest points and forms water droplets there in turn causing rust! any water inside the car should be looked at immediately!
-
i know but i leave for work in the morning at5.30 and I'm not home till 5.30 or 6.00 at night.the only time i can get to the dealers next is on Saturday.and that's if I'm not working this weekend. i didn't work yesterday morning but i didn't notice the water until after lunch today anyway. i think I'll book her in during the week, take next Saturday off and get it looked at.

you cant mabey pull the trim off at work during smoko and have a quick look?
may be as simple as that!
i know how you feel with the work i leave 10~15 before you and get home around the same time! kills you that you can never get things done during the week!

yes i do smoke. :-[ but the handle Assembly seems to be a sealed unit and is held in from the inside of the hatch. I'm a bit scared to go pulling on the hatch trim and break it. i wish there was a manual to show us all the ways to pull stuff apart.
-
you literally just pull on it and it unclips!
-
well the trim on the inside!!!
-
I'll give it a go at smoko or lunch tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

i started to pull the inner panel off the hatch at smoko thismorning and noticed there is screws and clips,a bit like a door trim. i ran out of time working out how to get it off [damn 15 minute break]and it now will have to wait till another day.

I have noticed the same problem with mine in the last couple of weeks, we have had a lot of rain and there is water inside the handle.
Haven't had time to investigate further yet either, but have found that by holding the rubber in depressed switch position and opening and closing the hatch a few times that the water runs out
-
i noticed water leaking out of it also, but I'm still going to suss it out.
-
oh noes... two cars with the same problem...
-
i noticed tonight the sloshing water sound has gone, but its still going to be looked into. i think that most of our cars probably have the problem. !
-
there is probably a leak through the hyundai badge... i think someone said there are holes holding that badge on...
-

yes,if you remove the Hyundai emblem there are 2 holes behind it to hold on the badge.
-
Can the badge be removed without breaking it? Isn't it glued or something?
-
I'm not sure how to remove it. the one i saw that was removed was in the Korean pics section.i know that 2 pins on the back of the badge hold it on,but i don't know if there is any glue or tape.
-
Better leave it then... Othewise, two drops of silicon would do the job
-
there are probably press clips holding the badge on from the inside!
-
i checked tonight to see if the water has got into the handle again after all of the rain we've had lately, its still dry. I'm still interested as how the water originally got in there. Brian reported the same problem and I'm interested to know if his handle got water in it again.

by GSW
-
Mine still has a watery sound coming from the depths, I had a look and came to the conclusion that the water is inside the tailgate garnish (which houses the soft touch button) and that it might be more likely to break if you opened it up more than anything else
One for the dealer if I ever gain the courage to return my baby to the place that scratched her last time

In the not to distant future most headlights, lens, etc. will be breathable problem solved !
-
Make that 3 members with this issue. I'll get it checked out at the next service I think. I only noticed after the last heavy rain deluge a few weeks ago. I've just checked and no sloshing, but I wonder if it drained out eventually or was it from evaporation. Either way I'll be hosing the back area with water before I take it in to prove my point.
-
the water never came back again on my car.
-
i spoke too soon, its sloshing around with water again. :faint:
-
I think that your pressure washer is too powerfull
