GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => DIESEL => Topic started by: 3y3thirty on March 14, 2025, 01:49:07

Hey folks,
I'm new here, you can call me James.
So I have had a fairly recent problem, approximately a year ago I came into the issue of light smoke on start-up. It began with light smoke for 3 seconds, no more than 5 seconds. Now, It has been as bad as 8 seconds.
I've been consciously checking the oil to see if it's using any, and it has been the same from new oil, to when I change the oil (10,000 kms). Not long ago I put a new diesel fuel filter in, and from then, I noticed when starting the car (cold) it was slightly rough (rpm would be funny for 10secs).
Also, now coming back into winter again the cranking is noticeably longer.
All of this has led me to think my glow plugs are stuffed. My car has done 194,500kms, and I don't have much service history, therefore I don't know when they were done last.
I'm hoping this is the problem, and that it's not something as serious as injectors.
Nevertheless, if this problem persists, after installing new glow plugs, I will get my buddy to run an injector diagnostics test.
I will keep you folks updated.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
James - 3y3thirty
