Title: Stop start system on i30 crdi blue 2013
Post by: Userlee5267 on April 12, 2025, 19:16:03
Hello

Bought this car for my partner a few weeks ago.  Never had a stop start car so didn't realize it had it

Reading the manual and read it as it

It's never worked since we had it.  It just says stop start stopped and the light comes on the driver's side..

Been told this could possibly be the dpf

None of us have seen it regen.  But  maybe possible missed it.

We done today 130 motorway journey and didn't witness anything.  But maybe we missed it

My partner drives alot in the week too. She's not sure what she's looking for.

The car goes well and as zero other problems.

Could it be someone as deactivated the stop start system?

Just to add we had a mojito service done last week so we know everything is fresh

Hiya  and  :welly2:

We do have a post somewhere detailing the conditions under which the ISG works, or not. Until it turns up, here are some thoughts...  :link: I30 Intelligent Stop and Go (ISG) (https://i30ownersclub.com/index.php?topic=6501.0)

Cheers.  I've read through them.  How often do these things do regenerations.

I'm worried it's not doing that either.

But I have zero warnings on the dash

Does anyone know. If this actually does a regeneration will I actually know it's happening or happened

The stop-start can be disabled if the battery is getting worn out, my stop-start didn't work for almost a year until I fitted a new battery, then it started working again straight away. I don't think it's affected by whether or not the car is doing a forced regeneration, and like with most cars, there's no indication that a regen is in progress.

I disconnected my battery for 30 minutes at the weekend, the stop start was working but intermittently, doesn't bother me as I switch it off anyway, now it's far more consistent if I forget to press the button to cancel it.
The car will disable the stop start during regeneration and have a slightly lumpy idle, I have a diagnostic connected as I'm currently monitoring regen intervals after fitting a genuine dpf sensor.
Without a diagnostic you might struggle to notice when it's regenerating.
As said a low battery voltage or battery on its way out may also disable the stop start, there's also a couple of other things it monitors on the car but can't remember what they are.
I've had problems with the car regenerating too often but not showing any codes, it's a long story but I'm hoping it's fixed now with a genuine hyundai sensor.

I've read various things about the regen.

1. The fan will come on full blast and the car will stink (not happened as I know of)

2. Fuel consumption goes down a bit and lumpy acceleration (I may have had this..)

3. You will definitely notice it doing it (I haven't seen anything)

It's worrying me ( I worry about worrying).

I've had the oil done and oil filter done.. oil was black before and oil was black after..   read this is normal.  Use to petrol engines. And it being clean

Had fuel filter and air filter and cabin filter done to.

I've had no luck with cars were on our 4th car in 3 years.  Corsa engine went, Corsa air bag light on no garage wanted to touch it kept saying take it to main dealer wanted £1200, astra j worse car I've ever set foot in lasted 6 months, spent £1000 since Xmas on this and head gasket blew, along with other issues.

So now I'm worrying about worrying
