1. My i30cw was made in Korea (MY11, 2010 build)
2. Its a mica black, and on the passenger front bonnet wing, there was a *really* small patch where the paint was lighter than the the rest of the car. about 2cm square, and only visible in direct sunlight. I don't have a pic because I couldn't get a clear photo.
3. The body works department for my dealer (Kloster Hyundai in Newcastle) fixed it overnight. The paint specialist said because the cars come wrapped in plastic, sometimes heat causes a paint transfer from the car to the plastic, causing the blemish. Not sure how they fixed it, but they did and I'm happy with the result.
4. I didn't need to write anything, or make anything formal, just said I had a problem and it was fixed as soon as I could live with out my car for a few hours.

Now THAT'S a good result.
Congratulations to Klosters (I know they are a "multi" franchise so maybe they're pretty switched on.
I went and did some tyre training for their mechanics and service technicians a few years ago ( the "F" people).

There is a TSB telling the dealers how to remove the plastic wrap/moisture blemishes, IIRC it involves a process that heats the paint.

Yeah, I've got no reason to complain about Klosters at all- great experience buying the car, and after sales has been fantastic. I've never had to deal with the "F" people...

I was told something about heating the paint, but it went over my head. I'll have to track that TSB down. Might be some good reading in there. It sounded like a pretty simple procedure, but in the end, all I wanted was the problem fixed. Which it was :D

I got a small(4cm^2), slightly dark, patch on my i30 (Shine Red). Looks like it's under the lacquer. Any ideas, could it be an easy heat fix?

if it looks like its under the clear coat, take it to the dealer- they should be able to fix it.
