Title: 2009 Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi - in Limp mode with errors P0700 P0732 P0733 P0717
Post by: b2goodbath on July 07, 2025, 01:51:51
Hi everyone,

My 2009 Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDi has gone into limp mode and is stuck in what feels like 1st gear. The gear stick moves freely, but the car won’t rev past 2,000 RPM and reverse doesn’t work either.

The OBD scan shows these error codes:

P0700 – Transmission Control System (MIL Request)

    P0732 – Gear 2 Incorrect Ratio

    P0733 – Gear 3 Incorrect Ratio

P0717 – Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit No Signal

I’ve tried disconnecting the battery to reset things, but no change. The transmission fluid likely hasn’t been changed in over 100,000 km, so I’m wondering:

Could this just be a faulty sensor (P0717), or would changing the transmission fluid be a worthwhile first step?

Has anyone experienced this specific combination of codes? I searched the forum but couldn’t find any matching cases.

Thanks in advance, legends!
Really appreciate any insight.

NEW UPDATE:
I change the transmission fluid together with the filter.
Also replace input speed sensor.

Still the same problem, the car is stacked in gear 1, Gear R, 2, 3 not engaging. Limp Mode ON
Input Speed Sensor still doesn't have any values

I'm wondering now if it can be a bad TCM/ECU

What can cause an big fluctuation turbine speed sensor during moving? I check the cable power ground and it's ok. Sensor is new just in case, still getting crazy

Possible a cut / loose wire or bad connection.
A friend had an intermittent problem with his transmission.  It was a switch that didn't make a reliable connection.
