Hey guys, looking for a bit of help... My MK1 2010 I30 failed its MOT on:-
Steering column attachment defective excessive play (2.2.2 (d) (i)) [MAJOR]
I now need a "UJ Joint" for the steering Collunm, and apparently they're really hard to come by for this specific model... I live in Leeds, UK but will happly purchase one from abroad if needed. Does anyone know where I can find one? I'm really struggling to find one!
This is a picture of what I need
Thanks in advance,
Robbie

Have you tried looking for the item part number for your specific car, using https://partsouq.com/ (https://partsouq.com/).
Having the part number would give you a better chance of searching online for a exact replacement.

Do you actually need the whole unit as I've seen posts, not sure if this site, when a small rubber coupler is all that requires to be replaced.

The coupler issue,# 56315-2K000FFF should have no relationship with excessive play in the steering column. Yes it does feel like play when the electronic motor slams into the steering column mechanism, but a good mechanic should be able to differentiate between the two. Especially because these models are so prone to the issue. The mechanic ( I"m guessing) in the picture, Has he had a lot of these I30s through his shop? I mention this as a U.S youtuber mechanic had an elantra (U.S i30) with a steering clunk, and he replaced that u joint part and the clunk didn't go away. He was inundated with comments about the coupler needing replacement. Which he did and the clunk was fixed. What ever the outcome, I hope they can fix your car.
