Title: Spoiler
Post by: rustynutz on October 16, 2010, 03:29:37
Had a problem with my spoiler a while back, it was lifting slightly on one side. It appears the glue or whatever it is they use had partly come unstuck.
Took it back to the dealer and was quite surprised when they said they'd order a new one and would let me know when it turned up.
I must admit I was expecting them to try and reglue it back down.....

Anyhow, the new one turned up a week or so later and was fitted with no problems.... :)

good to hear! did they say how it was held down?

im going to be fitting one soon (its on order) and i was wondering how its held down, is it double sided tape, and screws or screws and sikaflex?

To tell you the truth, I think I was too shocked to ask....sorry....

But, I do recall seeing some spoiler fitting instructions on here somewhere, I'll see if I can find them....

*Found them: Thumper was kind enough to post them a couple of years ago....

See how frustrating this whole warranty thing can be, you expect a bit of glue and get a whole spoiler, you ask for a new seal and get nothing

You should have traded the seal for a bit of glue :P

They'd probably need a new kit to get the bolts/mounts if one was broken or missing.

They would of course make more out of Hyundai by replacing the whole thing.

Keep and eye out for the old one on ebay....

The UK spoilers are of a different design, and if it came loose it would be a pig to replace (as they use PU glue and one-time use mounts).

Yeah, it's very frustrating.....It's a wonder they didn't trot out some rot about me washing it too much and weakening the glue....

there is an eskimo broken down on the side of the road with the bonnet poped, he is looking around the engine bay wondering where the oil that is pouring out the engine is coming from, when a kiwi pulls up

the kiwi says "ahh bru look there, you have blown a seal bru"

the eskimo says, "yeah... at least i dont r**t sheep"

Spoiler for genuine UK spolier:

(click to show/hide)
This is more of a wing than just a spolier. It attaches only at each side of the car using one-time use clips and the supplied PU glue. You get to drill and sand your paintwork to attach this properly.

Its made from fibreglass, and looks wonderfull. My insurance company wanted more money if I fitted it, so I didnt.
