Title: Hands across the world
Post by: bumpkin on October 21, 2010, 09:38:12
I am just off the phone to Trevor AKA surferdude who is currently sitting on the beachfront at Stonehaven looking out to the North Sea :D :D :D

Have given him directions and he is on his way to Aberdeen now and we will be going for a coffee mid-morning.

I am all excited this is my first i30 OC meet, all the way from Oz

Just back from coffee with Trevor and his wife, top couple, it's really nice to put a face to the name and given that they have given him a 1.4 rental Corsa (i20 alike) I had to take him via the carpark for a glimpse of an i30

Trevor has taken pix and will probably put them up when he next gets access, have given him directions to take in Royal Deeside and a portion of The Highlands on their trip back South.  They are now heading back to London and then flying onto Canada to catch up with their son :D :D

Thanks for the mocha Trevor and I hope you enjoyed the trip North, despite the weather

Was good to catch up. Brian is a really nice guy.
Hope he can find his way to Oz sometime.
Oh. And BTW. His car REALLY does have those white stripes on it.

Hey guys. I actually got free wifi access two days in a row.
Claire and I enjoyed meeting Brian  and getting a quick walking tour of Aberdeen University. (in the rain - but he tells us it was snowing 24 hours earlier ).
As mentioned above, I think I get the award for the furthest travel to a club meet.
Now, who's gonna beat it. Someone from NZ will need to go meet Hemmi.
Anway, it was terrific to meet up and put a face to the name. It was apleasure, Brian and Claire enjoyed meeting you, too - and talking shop
The route back through Braemar was brilliant. It even stopped raining towards the end. Snow on the roadside at the highest point, somewhere near a ski resort as we went over a range.
At one point a fighter jet flew down the valley straight at us, weaving in and out the hills and well below the peaks. An absolutely awesome sight and sound as he flew directly over our heads, very low. A special thanks for arranging that, Brian.
Hope you can get to Oz one day.
Trev and Claire.
