Good evening!
I'm having a problem with my 2010 i30 that I was hoping someone could help me with. Well, the problem could be me and not the car....
When I picked up this car in April, I noticed that my right leg (leg bone? The part of the leg between the knee and the foot :D) was uncomfortable with something. It was hurting in the muscles in front of the leg. As time went by things got better, but now after approx. 5500km, this pain appears every time I drive the car. This is as you understand very boring and makes driving my i30 less interresting :'(
Since I also have some trouble with my neck and shoulders, I have tried to adjust the seat to an optimal position. The neck/shoulder issue is much better, but now my leg hurts. I have tired to come up with what's causing this, but not sure. Any ideas? Can the position of the throttlepedal be adjusted?
My ideas:
1) The angle of the pedal is "wrong" and causing the foot to be pushed upwards.
2) The pedal is soft and I can't rest the foot on the pedal.
3) Pillow is short and the legs doesn't get enough support.
4) Side rest(console) does not support the leg very much.
I am 186 cm tall, but have never experienced this problem before. So, any ideas what i can do about this?

That can happen with different cars, i sometimes get that driving Toyota Hi Ace Van's. but it goes away.
Have never experienced that with my i30 or with Large Trucks. or riding Motorcycles.
i think your just strained a mustle that has not been used much.
do you do much driving?

My leg is just fine with no pain, but I notice that the muscle in the leg can be sore after driving. No, actually I drive quite little. To work and some shorter trips in the area ( about 20-50km).
So you think it Will go away when I get more hours in the car? As I said, I have never had this problem before in any other car as I can remember...

If your only doing short trips, it will take longer but, i think it should go away.
have you tried adjusting the base of the seat? only problem with the i30 base adjustment is it raises from the rear of the base ( tilts forward ). my last car had electric base adjustment, you could tilt back or forward or flat, i think that can help a lot to get the right seating possition.
But if it keeps giving you a problem, see a physio you will need your car with you so they can see your seating posture.

Ok, let's hope that it does. I have tried to adjust the seat in various positions, but the result is the same. I have just had a look at the pedalassy and I think that if they had used a spring under the pedal(same as old american cars)the problem could have been solved. Now we just have to accept the position of the pedal.
Have just placed some thick rubber under the floormat to get foot higher. Let's see if that helps to start with:)

Are you sure the pain is in the muscle. If the front of the leg is aching its mostly bone.
I don't think it will get better on its own, you need to change you position a bit more to see if it helps. Maybe try pressing the pedal with the ball of your foot rather than toes. Maybe you need to be just slightly further away too.

Well, well, well....
I seem to remember making an off-the-cuff remark about this when I first started driving Fergie. Took me a couple of months before it all went away. It was probably down to (in my case) having my seat too far forwards; if I remember, I slid it back one notch and my discomfort disappeared.
I'll try to find the post, not that it would add any value to this thread.

Hi Lorian,
It feels like it's in the muscle, so I'm pretty sure(right side of the bone). It's not directly pain, but some kind of aching in the leg.
I have tried various positions, but I will try further with both foot and seat.
I was hoping I could solve this without a phsyio!

I can't find the post (searched "pain", "aching", "ache"); I think I made it on hyundai-forums.com in 2008 before we all got together on here.
I definitely recognise what you're describing, like a dull ache when you're finished driving.

I just took my i30 for a little ride. It seems like it gets better if I slide the seat completely back, adjust the steeringwheel towards me and even better if I use 10-15mm of rubber under the mat(below the heel). The aching actually moved up to the knee this time :eek:, but it's getting better!
Well, it seems like this could be solved just by small adjustments. Hope my wife never borrows my car again :twisted:

In my leg that seems to be a lifting muscle not a pushing one. Still thing you need too sit further away.
You might need to put seat slighty more upright and pull the wheel closer if you have the option to make sure your back remains ok

Hopefully things will get better soon. I'll just have to a lot of adjustments and see if I hit "spot on" one day :wink:

(Just be careful the raised mat doesn't foul the accellerator and make it stick) :eek: :eek:

Glad to hear it's not just me!I will make some adjustments while driving in the future and hopefully things will work out. I noticed the same thing while driving another car today and will probably see the doctor to check if somethings wrong with my leg. Did the i30 hurt me?? :eek:
