Title: Easter eggs on sale at Tesco just days after Christmas
Post by: eye30 on December 31, 2010, 14:52:35

IT’S not even New Year’s Day – but Tesco is already filling its shelves with Easter eggs.

Shoppers say it is ridiculous and church leaders have slammed the move as absurd. Even though Easter falls on April 24 next year – just one day away from the latest possible date – Tesco says it is only responding to demand.

But customers at the stores in Portwood and Burnage in Greater Manchester said they could not believe their eyes when they saw the shelves stuffed with chocolate bunnies and eggs.

Absolutely ridiculous

All for a few extra bucks. "Responding to demand" my arse  :scared:

No, Burnage isn't close... around 20 miles away. I'm still ashamed to be in the same conurbation though  :scared:

I see your point but "first in best dressed" (looking at it from a marketing point of view)

There is only a finite market for everything and the earlier you make things available the bigger the share of the market you are likely to get..

Dazzler is right, it is all about marketing and gaining the biggest share... The problem is they are targeting, I think unfairly, children and parents that just can't say no. It would be nice if they gave all a bit of respite and held off, like they used to once, just for a month or so people can recover from what is an expensive and exhausting Christmas period. But I guess pigs might fly!!...

I was in the Coles supermarket here in Sunbury last Thursday doing a bit of a top up shop, and they were putting out the Easter eggs.  I could not believe my eyes.  :faint:  I wish they would give us a break, I haven't even finished all the Christmas left overs yet.

I'd have to agree with you there Steve...I can't imagine they were getting pestered by customers to put the eggs out that early...

this is very common - i've been noticing it for years now.

probably noone actually complains about it. and people buy them, kids buy them probably.
so they'd see no reason to not keep doing it
