She's approaching 3 years old and therefore must be MOT tested (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/OwningAVehicle/Mot/DG_4022109)
So Fergie's booked in for 28th Feb and I thought I'd let her have an early service at the same time. The schedule dictates 62,500 miles but I'll only have c. 59,600 around that time.
This is the service where the engine coolant gets changed for the first time ever :goodjob:
The quote was £186 for the service, £29 for the MOT. I can live with that

Virtual fiver says they dont.

Spooky... that's what I was thinking
Also spooky, is the answer the receptionist gave when I asked her to confirm that bringing the service forwards wouldn't affect the remaining 2 years of the warranty. "Errm.. I shouldn't think so"
-
When I had my 3 year done they didn't change the anti freeze, although he did say they tested it.
I take it it is classed as interim service?
Good price on both counts.
-
Shambles i think you are getting some good prices for servicing,
i hope i can do the same, don't fancy the drive up to your neck of the woods
to get the same deals
my 1st will be due in a couple of months and i will start phoning around soon,
i am tempted to take my own oil in, but being a distrusting old git, would want
to stick around and make sure it was used in my car not the mechanics.
-
I understand prices at main dealers do vary quite significantly across the country.
At my dealers they told me of a chap who lives on London but drives 250 miles to here to get it serviced.
He saves a £££££ on the cost.
ps he is not just coming just for the service. He has family in the area so combines the trip.

Hi Steve, i have 84,000k up ( about 52,500mile ). i'll be having mine serviced in 1,000k & will have my service guy change the water.& he will do it.
Apart from this how long will you keep your car? i'm thinking i need to update before it reachs 100,000k ( around 60,000mile ) as after this the value drops a lot. but when you only spent $21,000 drive away new you can't loose that much.
how does it work there? or how long do you keep your cars?
-
Hi John. How long I keep a car depends on how good the car is.
Fergie will be mine for at least 6 years (warranty+1) given how enamoured I am with her. She's perfect, better than the Jag XJ6, BMW 732i and Ford Granada 2.8i 4x4 I've had (the last two were write-offs, following some stupid driving maneouvres I made)

Steve, sounds like your happy with Fergie.
so you don't have any thought on resale value? Or have you got that Scrapage plan i have read some GB members mention?
If you have written two car's off & Fergie has kept you from destroying her, she must be tough or a lot slower than the last two? i've never written a Car off yet. but does not mean much.
I'm still trying to work out whats the best for myself. keep the Car & don't worry about how many miles i clock up, or sell and buy a new car b4 it gets too many miles up & become almost valueless.
-
Very happy with her, so not interested in resale value.
As for the writeoffs, I've actually broken 3. The two I mentioned plus a Fiat Tipo DGT. All my fault :-[

If you are still really happy with her as you seem to be maybe you are better keeping her.. She has done a lot of "kind" miles and must be still like new.. If they bring out a 6 speed with a U2 motor maybe upgrade to a new one then..

Hey Steve.. you are very observant on here.. but not so much on the road apparently...
-
at least your honest about your accidents Steve. :goodjob: my sister has had about 10 accidents, and ALL caused by the other drivers. :faint:
-
Hey Steve, i've had plenty of accidents racing, i think here in Australia we drive very slow, down in Tassie they drive even slower, but still don't stop accidents.
i seen a good accident happen near Sydney airport the other day and i'll bet they were both blaming the other driver, but was just two very impatient drivers meeting BANG. one was an SUV the other was an Old Nissan Skyline 4WD two door Turbo

They loaned me a real sweet ix20 :D
