Title: Noises from hatch area
Post by: buddyforu on August 15, 2008, 09:52:29
I've noticed over the last few months some creaking coming from the hatch area, usually more noticeable when slowly driving over something uneven. It sounds as if the hatch door (or something else back there) is moving in the frame. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you fix it?

I notice the odd rattle from the hatch area as well, mostly on coarser chipped road.

try to go to the back and wiggle a lil on the plastics of the hatch door and round the trunk. if you hear anything, try to pad it with some window sealant tape (you tape it round old windows so the wind doesn't blow in... foamy tape). had the same problem with my getz, and that was the only way to solve it.

Hi Buddy,

Have heard the same noise once or twice when driving across our uneven building block (assume it a tiny bit of body flexing) Car still feels tight as a drum on normal roads so not getting too stressed...

Cheers,

Dazz

I have the same issue, but I have it while driving reverse from parking..

Have no idea what that could be  :?:

Same problem with my SLX diesel. Sounds like a single rap on a long tensioned metal rod, like a roll bar. Doesn't happen often, mainly at slow speed (forward or reverse) over things like low speed humps. Been all round the back of the car but no sign of anything loose. I don't intend to get bent out of shape over it, though. The Hyundai techos probably know what it is and can solve it at my 15000.

I picked up my car yesterday and it has some loud metallic clunk noise every now and again when I go around a corner.  It sounds like it is coming from the left hand rear of the vehicle.

Have a look at the toolset in the spare wheel compartment - there might be a spanner floating around

My clunk in the hatch area has been solved by the dealer at my 15k service. Apparently it was the holddown of the spare wheel, and not all that easy to pick. It was tightened and hey presto! Fairly common, so they say. Now, how do I get a 6th ratio into that gearbox....

As recently as yesterday, I heard a rattle from the rear from the left side. Sounds stupid but on turning my head around I noticed the seat belt clip on that side was sitting on the plastic molding at the side of the seat and was producing the noise. Easy fix :D
