I've been reading a few post and it seems like this is becoming a common issue. My ESP off light has been coming on intermittently and after reading a few post I checked the brake lights and guess what....there weren't any, so god knows how long thats been going on. The other issue is cruise control (after market) won't knock off when the brakes are applied which was a bit scary at first. Anyway its back to the dealer which is a bit of hassle as I have lost confidence in the local one. I checked the fuse and it was ok so probably the brake light switch which someone mentioned was a recall in the US. :'(

I'm sure the brake light switch is what turns off the cruise control. if your brake lights aren't working because the brake light switch is faulty, your cruise wont turn off when you put your foot on the brake pedal. IMHO.

It would definitely seem they used a faulty batch at some time.

and its a parts manufacturer problem, not the car manufacturers fault.
