Yet Another TPMS Failure!
Was out in the sunshine checking the pressures and went to remove valve cap when fsssssssssst, the entire thing come off in my hand!
Sunday is not a good day for this, tyre places all close at 4pm, managed to speak to one who said that the best thing to do is source my own valves......
Will phone the dealer in the morning........

Is the valve neck actually broken?

A few TPMS failures ago (I forget who's thread) we found they could be purchased much cheaper on Ebay. Keep in mind the newer versions are steel and should be much stronger, but many places, including dealers, could still be selling the Aluminium ones.
Also if you replace the valve yourself you will still need the dealer to sync it to the TPMS computer.
Always worth ago on the warranty first of all......

Yes completely broken I am afraid.
Not convinced I will get warranty on this one as I had replaced the caps so a metal metal corrosion is my suspicion, especially with the winter we have just endured!
I decided not to bother with the last wheel as the cap feels stiff on that one also!
I would love to know how the mechanic gave me a checklist including current tyre pressures when the antiroll bar was replaced, this could be my way of getting a discount!

I always handle mine very tentatively now after one just broke off at the end of the first week of ownership. hope you got it sorted - given the i30 launch date your car must still be under warranty - take the wheel in and "huff"
I think all of mine are the newer type now, but I will stick to the foot pump and care rather than risk being stranded at a garage - playing with the jack in the rain.

Well she has now been in at the dealers siince 9.00 this morning, no word yet...............
I only ever use the foot pump on mine, don't trust the air lines at fuel station forecourt :rolleyes:
I am prepared to take the blame on this one, it was me that put on metal caps and didn't pay enough attention to lubrication during the winter :-\

Dealer has no TPMS valves in stock, may get them tomorrow :rolleyes:

Got her back, two new TPMS valves fitted, total cost £0.00
I doubt any other manufacturer can hold a candle to the Hyundai warranty! :goodjob: :D

Yep, both nearside wheels have been replaced :)
My dealers have also started a drop in thing, where I can go to any one of 120 nationwide centres and get them to check and top up oil and water FOC anytime :goodjob:

Trundling home last night, the TPMS indicator came on, blasted off-side rear again. Ho Hum... puncture indeed it must be the valve - going to write a snottagram to that garage. Thought nothing of it. About 25 miles later the handling went really down hill- nothing untoward but all the sharpness had gone, so I pulled over and yep - the idiot had ignored the idiot light and chewed up his tyre wall. On with the spare - I'm getting the hang of this.
Two new tyres at short notice from Costco (Bridgestone's round and black ones 225 45 17's - £103 each) they think the repair had failed as they could not see any other damage to the tyre.
back on the road oh-dark early - much better.
Moral of the story: They are not called idiot lights for nothing. :D
