Following on from the successful Brisbane / Sunshine Coast members meet organised by Agentr31 in October 2010
I am proposing another trip based around the Sunshine Coast hinterland towns of Landsborough
and Imbil. Heading off on a Sunday morning in April or May from Landsborough railway station carpark around
10:30 am we'll travel along some great hinterland roads to Imbil, a distance of around 70km and
a time of approx. one hour. The route consists of good quality sealed roads with a number of quite
steep and twisting sections with magnificent scenery.
Arriving at Imbil we'll grab lunch at one of the local shops or do the $14.50 buffet lunch on the upper
floor verandah of the Railway Hotel. From the verandah you can see the historic Mary Valley Rattler
steam train pull in from Gympie at 12:15 The train terminates at Imbil and as the steam engine
is detached from the carriages and turned around on the large railway turntable, the passengers
( and us ) can wander the Sunday markets in the main street of town.
The return trip will take us on an alternate route via Mapleton back to Landsborough along the
amazing George Styer Scenic Road, this road rises so quickly and steeply it's a bit like taking off in a jet!!!
Should get back at Landsborough station around 2:30pm
All we need do is get some expressions of interest then decide on a suitable Sunday this month,
or next, and we're away!!!
Please post interest here or PM me.
Cheers, Russ

Sunday 8th May is Mothers Day.
Take her with you m8  (nice outing) :winker:
-
tell her its a day out for mothers day,a sunday drive. :goodjob:
-
She's probably too old for gallivanting around the country , Trev is no spring chicken, you know.....(no offence intended) :P
-
We often drive long distances together.
Just drove to Galdstone and back on Saturday.
But Mothers Day is about Mothers --- and their children. So we'll not be doing a hinterland drive on that day.
-
Thanks Trev, I didn't realise it was Mother's Day on May 8,
so that day is definitely out.
How about Sunday 15th May??
What about you trsc27 and agentr31? ...and anyone else that might be interested?
Is the 15th May a suitable date????
Russ.

Sorry Russ, May 15th looked good until I checked my calendar. It's Rally Queensland weekend so even if we don't want to go watch the action, there'll be cars all over the hinterland more than likely.
But the 22nd looks OK from this end.
-
Glad you've got your finger on the pulse with all these dates Trev.
Anyway, I'm fine with the 22nd.
So, trsc27, agentr31 and others...whatdoya reckon???
-
22nd works for me

Tha above one didn't happen due to too many conflicting dates.
There just might be a window of opportunity around the end of October.
