as we all know the halo locks our doors automatically at around 40-50 kph. I've noticed that the rear hatch/tailgate on the cw and hatch doesn't lock with the halo,or even when you push the doors lock button on the drivers armrest. :disapp:
[ note. this isn't a whinge or complaint,its an observation. :winker: ]

Never had ours activated but I can understand their thinking it is only an anti-hijack feature after all .. They would have to be keen to hijack you through the back hatch.

that's fair enough dazz, but what about your valuables in the lugage area? :whistler: :winker:

Hi.
I tested this feature and HALO closes the tailgate.

How do you guys know whether it locks the tailgate or not? Has someone tried to open it when you've come to a stop (but not removed the ignition key)?
Not got a clue if mine autolocks
-
i know it doesn't lock because we picked up our son yesterday and he opened the tailgate on the wife's cw and put his bag in the back. he then went to get in the car and the halo had the doors locked, she had to push the button on her armrest to let him in. i cant check on my hatch because i had the halo turned off ages ago.
-
Just a small thought...mine locks at 18kph
-
i don't doubt you at all about the 18kph. my hatch used to have the doors lock at around 25-30kph. the wife tells me here doors lock at around 45-50kph. the speed that the halo engages must have a varyable setting by the dealer.

Try this:
Open all windows.
Put key in ignition and start the car so it is idling
Press the door lock/unlock button on drivers arm rest so doors are manually locked.
Doors and boot should be locked.
Try and open doors from outside and inside by putting arm through open window and try and open the boot.
Post results here so further advice can be given if need be.

Not sure testing it that way replicates the HALO (ie, "automatic") system

Steve, i always allow my motor to idle for 1 min before turning off for last time when i get home. i keep car in garadge & a few times i have got out with motor runing & drivers door has closed. then i find car is locked i always seem to be able to open rear hatch and climb in unlock rear door then front door. has only happened twice in three years. i always hit the doors open button now.

^-- oh yes, that spooky autolock (when you don't want it) system

I thought about this thread yesterday and said to the wife ..... We'll try our cw while we're in Bunning's car park but everything worked perfect  she coundn't open the tail gate ? even tried the inside central locking ... still won't open and even before posting this checked 2i30's post date of the 16th April not the 1st
I'd put my money on a computer fault

Hi Steve,
As you can see on Reply #4 and Reply #11, in mine, the HALO closes the tailgate also.

our cars are due for their 30,000km service next month so i will get the dealer to look at it to see why it wont lock with the halo.

here's a bit of an update on the tail gate not locking with the halo on the wife's cw. i did an ecu reset on her car over night and connected everything back up this morning. we went shopping, and when we got home i asked one of my sons to check that the tail gate was locked and it was. its obviously reset itself during the ecu reset over night. between now and next months service i will keep an eye on it, it may stop locking again.

Thanks for the update Steve... :goodjob:
I hope none of those ECU reset skeptics try and shoot you down..

Interesting topic. I just found it. :-[
Will check mine tomorrow.

There are two (well, three) settings.
HALO off
HALO on - locks at 40 kph (which is where mine is set and I'm happy with that).
HALO on - locks at approx 15 kph
I may have mentioned this before but my party trick when someone is in the car who hasn't been before is to lift my left hand off the wheel at about 35 kph and snap my fingers as I reach 40. Gets some interesting reactions.
