Title: Replacement keys
Post by: unfamilia on June 27, 2011, 10:24:16
Ok I would like a spare key or 2 for myself and my mum, my wife will keep the original ( smart move? Time will tell)

Now waiting on mr Minit to get back to me but anyone found where to get one apart from Hyundai? $480 I don't think so, I was a test guinea pig for my forester 6 months before they officially released their machines 4 years ago, hoping some ones found somewhere in melbourne that can do them for $200 or less each

Ok Hyundai say car can only support 2 coded keys max.
But I found 2 places in melb that do them. $180 for non remote transponder key coded to car.

The other slightly more.

There has to be options out there. Mr Minit said to bring it in and if it scans, they can do. Obviously 2 places can do so why not them too

Ok quick question, do all i30 have an alarm? I'm sure mine doesnot, just central locking and immobiliser. So if I get a aftermarket key, one place said if I lock car with remote, and unlock it with key alarm will go off.
This was over phone but I'm sure I don't have an after market alarm. So if there is one it's factory and I don't read about a factory alarm, only immobilizer.

It should have the alarm as standard. Also if you lock it with the remote but open with the key the alram will sound but all you have to do is put the key in the ignition and the alarm will be disarmed, so long as it's been coded.

Just tested it- yes alarm in place. So might get a key and other keyless fob coded to central locking, that should sort it  :blubber:

Ok so apparently the keys are coded to the car and can't be reflashed to another car. I don't see why not if they need to reprogram both keys if you change one. I know the central locking has to be synced but why immobiliser if supposed to be locked to car ecu.
