Filled the car up yesterday. I usually like to fill up earlier in the week as somehow the price of fuel goes up later in the week.[ funny, the price of milk stays constant mon-fri]. Deisel costs seem to remain reasonable constant and seem less effected by these weekly cycles.
So I get to the pump, and am amazed to see ULP selling at 162.9p/L and Deisel at 168.9p/L. There have been many times over the last eight month where I had some doubts about the economic advantages of the Deisel, but last night for the first time in a while, I smiled happy to own a deisel. I have seen the difference in price as much as 30 cets a litre, but this was the smallest price difference I have seen since maybe Febuary.
That said, it was only a week or two earlier that I saw ULP selling at the same servo for 134.9.
How can the justify such high and sudden price rises, ...oh thats right...Pay Day!

Hi Eyma ... You got an RDO?
I'm surprised with the huge fall in the Aussie $$$ we haven't had price of fuel going back up...Any excuse...
-
No Dazz, I dont have an RDO.
I am at work and not really suposed to be on a forum, Dont tell the boss.
The truth is that we have'nt had any internet conection from home now for about 5 days, so I have been sneaking onto this site from work. Yeah, so my wife replaced the modem, tried a different network card and re-formated the computer. No good. Finally she rang big pond. Turns out that someone has been digging in our area and has gone through the lines. At least its not our computer, but they still have'nt fixed the problem and we are paying for a service we cant use. Bugger!
-
Hmm, i work at BigPond so.... let me know next time your intarwebs stops working
-
bigpond is evil!
i hope telstra doesn't get given the national broadband scheme cause broadband in australia will go backwards :)

Why is it in todays news that crude is below US $90 but it will take 6 to 8 week to come down but when crude was up at US $150 it only took 6 to 8 minutes to go up.
Slowly coming down where I live.
Same price as shambles £1.19/l for diesel. Unleaded £1.09/l
-
Price of a oil spiked $25us a barrel. so it will go up.
Shambles were did they come up with a name like Wonga Wonga?
out here we have a few towns with names like that like Woy Woy & Wagga Wagga. just wondering why they need to use same name twice?
Cheers

It's a 3rd party viewpoint mate. Most of the Oz films we see over here (Mick Dundee eg) seem to have jarra jarra or wonga wonga somewhere in them. Even one of The Simpsons episodes had something similar when describing a toad. No offence mate.

Shambles were did they come up with a name like Wonga Wonga?
must say i have not tried it yet.
cheers

A chook can also be a boiler - OK with banga's on the barbie but mostly we have barra at a beer-up with bum-nuts and a billy for brekky to kick it off... don't you blokes do the same over there?
-
if you leave it too long the pop corn blows out the chooks arse blowing the oven door open
lol that's hilarious.
but on the topic of fuel prices, diesel at my local BP is $160.9 today. That's about 3-5 cents cheaper than last week i think.
-
Heard on the radio that oil took it's biggest ever one day price hike overnight. That's not a good thing

Still 168.9 in Bendigo tonight - I filled up early just to be safe - and avoid the fuel spike for 3 weeks

Hey Don,
Its most likely been asked before, but what is it with the dog and the soccer ball? Is that you, or is that your dog? Its a border collie correct? They are a beautiful breed.
Whats its name? I have a lovely male labrador retriever we call Dudley. He is the most placid, friendley dog you would ever meet.
-
If my conversion is right then diesel in Oz is £0.81 GBP per litre for donc
and £0.764 per litre for ozsnowman
Seems as if prices have reduced by more % in Oz than UK.
I paid £119.9 GBP yesterday for a litre. Send some over please

LOL – I think there’s a theory about dogs looking like their owners (or is it the other way around?)
When I first came on this forum I started posting a few images, and seeing how most people had an avatar I looked for something to put up. Don’t know why I picked my dog. It was just a picture on the computer at the time that seemed to work.
He's a short-haired border collie called Jabba. My daughter named him after some bloke in a rock band on TV, but in typical Aussie fashion it’s been changed along the way to ‘Jabba the Hut’, then ‘Hut Dog’… and now mostly just ‘Dog’ (get here Dog) – he answers to any of them
A few years ago we were living on a race-horse spelling farm and had a long-haired border collie. He was a fantastic dog but getting old so we got Jabba as a pup to learn from the old dog (and short-haired because we get lots of cats-eye bur that tangle their fur). Unfortunately the old boy died before the pup had a chance to really learn, although Jabba has still turned into a good dog. Great with kids, will chase a ball (or anything else that moves) all day and loves jumping in the back of the 4x4 - would go with me everywhere if I let him. A few days ago my wife pulled into the driveway in the i30 and I (mistakenly) opened the passenger door to say g’day… The dog was straight in sitting on the front seat before I had a chance to haul him back out again. Dog hairs in her new car… I'm in trouble again!
... now it's my turn ... what's with the Tea Pot?
-
Fuel prices, chaps.. fuel prices
-
Hi Shambles,
How about them high fuel prices?
On the subject of fuel prices, It sort of reminds me about a little teapot that was short and stout.
I am not all that short, but I do love a good pint of stout.
Actually, when I chose the name eyma teapot, I just wanted something a bit strange and different, which pretty much descibes me to a tee. Dazz kindly provided me with the avatar of the tea pot. It would be good if I could say there was a storey to go with the name, but thats it really, just a moment of sillyness, and the name stuck.
There are some other quirkey names on this site. Maybe that could be a new thread, tell us about your user name and Avatar.

Coming from a bloke who earlier asks... "WTF is a chook?"
Well I didn't know did I? It could have been fuel-related

OK Fuel
I just filled up today with ULP for 106.9p / litre.
£47.00 filled her to the brim and that will be good for 350 miles mainly town driving in rush hour.
The scooby would have given me about 220 miles for the same price.
Cheers
Brian
