It seems interesting as I know one Russian guy, who worked in the same company as me - Rossiya airlines, who moved to Australia a few weeks ago. There is one more guy, who works in the same company now too, with whom I worked in the same shift and who is going to move to Australia next summer with his family: wife and daughter. He prepares to pass English exam in order to obtain work visa.
I have just found out that a woman from Poland, who I know from one of yahoo groups, is also going to Australia in January.
Well I have been musing about moving to Australia too, but haven't come to a final decision yet, so the matter stays open. In fact, I dreamed of moving to this country long time ago, when I went to school.

That's interesting, considering the big stink going on at present about Australian airlines moving their maintenance operations offshore.

Well, I think it is Base and Heavy maintenance, which is moved offshore, meanwhile Line maintenance would stay nevertheless.

A colleague of mine, whom is going to Australia this summer and who I mentioned here before, sent me a question in order to find out an answer from a native citizens of the country.
Here it is (frankly speaking I haven't got hold of the sense of the question yet):
"So,i have to trasfer 300AU$ to TRA via the money order, and i have next information from they:

TRA’s application fees under the TRA Migration Skills Assessment Program or Migration Points Test Advice Program can be paid by Bank cheque or money order. Payment by cheque or money order must be in Australian Dollars, drawn on an Australian Bank and made out to the Collector of Public Monies DEEWR.

Detailed instructions on how to pay our application fees are available on the application guidelines on the TRA website www.deewr.gov.au/tra.
>
> All replies to this email must be forwarded to traenquiries@deewr.gov.au if you require the matter to be actioned.
That's all no more additional data, yet Bank have sent me these :To complete an International Money Transfer from an overseas bank
account you may need to provide the following -

* The 'SWIFT' code of ANZ (same as 'SORTING' or 'ROUTING' codes).
= ANZBAU3M.
* BSB number
* your account number
* the name of the bank
* the physical address of the bank
* the name of the account holder
ANZ Branch addresses can be located from the website at www.anz.com .

I can confirm that the Commonwealth Bank Swift Code is CTBAAU2S. The International Bank Account Number (IBAN) will be the BSB and account number. It will need to be provided the your bank in the following format 06200011111111.

You will need to contact the recipient to obtain this information.
I have asked them (TRA) and get answer :

TRA’s application fees under the TRA Migration Skills Assessment Program or Migration Points Test Advice Program can be paid by Bank cheque or money order. Payment by cheque or money order must be in Australian Dollars, drawn on an Australian Bank and made out to the Collector of Public Monies DEEWR.
 Are they in mind?
Maybe they have a special scheme for the  money order without an  account data.?
Thus i need the advice "

Is this person coming here to live permanently.

DEEWR is a real government organisation, I have no idea what the $300 is for

To transfer the money from one country to another, the information requested is normally required.

The only other way would be to have a bank cheque drawn and posted from Russia to Australia, but this would take a long tome to arrive. Also the exchange rate may alter making the cheque value inaccurate on arrival.

Hope this helps.  :)

I think the advice from the bank is a red herring, since - based on your posting - DEEWR is asking for a physical (paper) bank cheque or money order drawn on an Australian bank, not an electronic transfer.

I would email back to DEEWR specifically asking: How do you pay the AUD300 fee from overseas if you don't have an Australian bank account and are located outside Australia?

If they don't  return an adequate reply, call an Australian embassy/consulate in Russia.  I would guess that other Russians had similar questions.

Yes, he intends to move to Australia permanently.
The problem is (I called him this morning) that he can not obtain a bank's account of collector to transfer money to and TRA doesn't provide it.

Not me, not this time at least  :P

You really don't know what you're missing Misha.

As has been mentioned before, your friend should contact the Australian embassy, they can sort out his problem and it will also protect him from a scam too.

I have just got in touch with one guy, who had moved to Australia this winter. He seems fine, though he is going to another city, where a company offered a contract for him. Although he has got a confirmation, he seeks other options and open to any offer.
Therefor I wonder if anyone has friends, who work in aviation and may inquire about work position for foreigner, who holds permanent visa and who possesses avionic and electrical knowledges (categoty B2 technician, Russian AML, has worked on A320 family)? Even though a work in aviation is preferable, this guy is open to offers in another realms too.

Thank you.

Probably not great timing for your friend. Qantas is close to letting 400 maintenance workers go in Victoria  :disapp:

Not really Misha because I'm retired and was in policing.
Thinking aloud, does your friend have any expertise in web design?
I have a nephew who has his own business in that field but I wouldn't have a clue if he's looking for anyone at the moment because I know he's doing it a bit tough as the business is still young.

The crowd I work for (Radio Rentals) uses technicians in some bigger stores for electronic repairs and some computer work but not aware of them hiring any more lately..
