"A hot hatch version of the new Hyundai i30 is under evaluation. It would be based on the new three-door model, which is due to go on sale at the end of 2012."

when they say 3-door.. is that a referral to a new model i20? 200bhp would be awesome and would make me reconsider my next choice. but would hav to have a guess and say its the same engine set up as the turbo veloster.

Is Hyundai finally opening their eyes and targeting a wider audience.. e.g rivaling the hot hatches out there? or attempting to anyways.
Turbo i10? 140bhp on the way :P

They appear to be talking a 3 door i30 not i20. Seeing they have the veloster I cant really see the point of making a 3 door i30. I reckon they should just throw a 200 bhp motor in a 5 door with uprated suspension and brakes...

Rather true, but then I gues the 3 door i30 will look different altogether to the 3 door i30veloster.. similar thing with how VW Have the GTi Golf, and the sirocco, basically the same car, but a different shell,

I'm not a fan of the 3 door concept. I get claustrophobic in 2 door cars (in the rear), I never travel in them. If it's a safety issue, isn't it simpler to set the child lock on so the door can't be opened from inside.

More style than safety, i think some 3dr cars look really good, e.g. Vauxhall Astra H, 5 door is just brute ugly, but the 3dr is so sleek, however i'd never buy a 3dr due to loss of practicality

usually a 3 door car is a great deal lighter than its 5 door variant, and with a higher hp motor, it becomes a little rocket.  :Drive:

And it's another way to save a manufacturing buck too.  :fum:

I thought 3 door variants work out cheaper, e.g i20 etc, also have a lower insurance premium..

Some 3 door cars used to attact an insurance loading in the past as they were considered sporty or more popular with young drivers..

So you pay more to get less.

I'd be concerned about drumming in the large uninterrupted metal side too.
