Hi all , new poster here.

I am due to take delivery of a 2011 i30 comfort 1.4 petrol in a few days and was wondering if anyone could point me to or post a few pictures of the engine bay. I only ask as I had a look under the bonnet of the car I am getting and noticed there was no plastic engine cover or battery cover, Is this normal on this engine  ?

There was only a small plastic clip on cover on one of the battery terminals. Also the coolant header tank looked empty. does it go up and down as the engine heats and cools ?

I am getting a little nervous any help would be very welcome.

TY.

Hi, here is my 2008 model 1.4 engine, still quite spotless after 36000 miles. Engine and battery appear well covered except for negative terminal. I also noticed that the drive belts are exposed to the left of the engine but apparently this is quite normal. Let me know if want any more pics and good luck!

Actually, looking at the picture the 1.4 engine looks smart and modern, unlike the 2 litre Beta II engines fitted to the FD sold here in Australia.  The Beta II engine has been around for 10 years, I had it in my 2007 Tucson.  Now I have it in my 2011 FD i30 Trophy.

How does the 1.4 perform?  Do the European GD i30's have the 1.8 engine same as OZ? :Pout:

1.4 looks identical to my 1.6 version. Both should have engine covers.

Think their biggest Petrol in the i30 is a 1.6ltr as per the Euro Built Tourer we are getting here (also available as a 1.6 Ltr CRDi of course)

Had a look at the Hyundai UK website.. Much prefer the Aussie one! (the UK one is not very user friendly)
