Doesnt make sense why it wasnt included yet again Hyundai do some weird things.

But, at least they do them, even though they are not obligated to do them.  We bought our car with one key (and we knew it before we signed up) but we ended up with two.  No fuss, just a polite request from me to the service manager.

Also, we have had fantastic response to all warranty issues, including a phone call a week after our 7 500k service to see if the issues they attended to were to our satisifaction.

Recently I spoke to a salesman who sold Hyundai for a number of years.  He also sold Toyota, Suzuki and Subaru at the same dealership.  In his opinion, Hyundai were the pick of the companies to deal with and the most responsive to issues and complaints.  He felt they were really going somewhere.

Think I should get a job with Hyundai - I sound like I'm halfway up their backsides.

Have to agree Bob, not about the Backsides but about the backup.. Think some of their Dealers let them down but generally found Hyundai to be more obliging than most other companies I've bought from (Nissan are very good also)

i wish that the Sydney branches of Hyundai were as easy going as the other ones around australia...they just openly shut me down through saying not to believe that people on this forum are telling the truth and a second lot of fob's arent being released...real inconsistency happening now??

has any one else in Sydney been able to get a second fob with their car??? really frustrating now

I agree, there are quite a few inconsistencies between dealerships. Especially when it comes to
second key fobs & pricing of accessories. There are some dealerships that will go out of their
way to help customers & others that just want your money and then couldn't care less. With
regards to accessory pricing, i think it should be standardised across the board. The service
centres all get their parts from the same place and at the same cost. Most people receiving
their cars in the future (especially SLX & SR) should be getting 2 key fobs. But Hyundai should
have had this sorted from the start.

Hey Link 1111,

Try and get an email address for your dealer and I for one will send them a curt email confirming I got a second key and details of my dealer... Would imagine others will also support you in this way. ;)

Which dealership you goign to link? I bought my SLX through Penrith Hyundai, hoping they will come to the party and give me a free keyfob.
I did make a note to mention it to the salesman that I wanted a second keyfob but he was not prepared to chuck on in free, told me it would be $360 bucks. I told him i'd pass for now :P

I emailed Hyundai head office in Sydney, but although I received an immediate reply, it simply stated that I would have to buy one from a dealer. At $324.80 for the fob + $42.90 for the hinging blank key + cutting, what are Hyundai doing to their reputation of TV adds  GENEROUS??
This is souring the deal for me and if I was a Hyundai executive, I would send all buyers a second Fob with their survey request. Boy will I have a kick, when it comes to filling it in.
Never the less a great car! Don't spoil that Hyundai!
regards from Dave in his i30 SLX

I called my dealership this lunchtime and they said my keyset* arrived 16th June, but they cannot find it, and have reordered it, hopefully to receive within 10 days. Requires a laser-cut, apparently, which might delay me even further getting it.

* apparently there are 3 parts that have to be ordered - the module, shaft and the pin to secure the shaft into the module. The UK part numbers are:

  81996 2L000
  95430 2L600
  81926 2L000

While we're waiting for our second remote plipper keys we can sit back and grin, because it's official  :D ...

WHEN YOU LOCK THE CAR WITH THE NON-REMOTE KEY IT ACTIVATES THE ALARM SYSTEM*!

*it may be necessary to have your car set-up/adjusted for this to happen.

Well, I've complained about the dealer I bought mine from, but I'd also like to say something good about my purchase - that it is came with 2 remote keys without me having to ask. Maybe Hyundai has just started doing this now? It has been a few months since this thread was last posted in, so the world may have changed for the better since then...

r5e... Yes, Hyundai realized the error in their ways several months ago (as far as the keyfob issue goes)
