I've been locked out of my account as I tried to log in via my smartphone last night.

It said to log in on your usual computer to prove who you are but now I'm back on my normal PC it won't allow me to log in. (The hour limit had exceed to answer the security question which I wasn't aware of otherwise I'd have booted up the PC)

I've emailed them and got this reply:

It looks like you're having trouble accessing your account. Try logging in to Facebook and completing the security check from the computer or mobile phone that you normally use to login to your Facebook account.

If you're still unable to login, please reply to this email with a photo of your government-issued ID.

The ID you attach:

- Must be government-issued (ex: passport, driver's license)
- Must be in color
- Must clearly show your full name, date of birth, and photo

Anyone else having trouble with FB?

No problems here. Sounds like your account has been hacked, you clicked a malicious link/app or someone has repeatedly tried your password.

Try clearing your facebook cookies from your pc (should be about 14 of them)

Reading further about this, you'll need to contact the FB people unless you have "trusted contacts" set up in your FB profile, who can deal with the FB security folks on your behalf.

Did that and post 1 shows their reply.

I'm reluctant to provide photo ID

Don't us FB that much, usually on a Saturday to find out the band on at my local but as I'm going anyway no great loss.

I would not be sending that sort of ID to them either....     sounds distinctly dodgy to me  :fum: :fum:

Why do they need that ID to fix a problem. They don't require it, to create an account do they. The request may in fact be the hack. I don't have FB so  :Dunno:

I definitely would not be sending those details. If it can't be resolved and you still want FB, create a new account.

i’ve emailed back to say photo id is a no no.

waiting for reply.

seems the lock out was because i tried to log in via mobile phine data and not via home internet.

reading futher on this when you register it asks for mobile number which i had notprovided.
