My daughter and I were out there today at Imbil but we were home by 2.00. We left the Imbil Showgrounds service park about 1pm and there was no news about it up till then so must have been pretty late in the event.
Sad news indeed.
The story says they were competing in the Qld Championship section. My entry list shows 4 Imprezas and one Legacy in that group. One of the listed co-drivers is a woman.

I found a report which says it happened about 11am so I guess it was kept quiet for a while.
Happened on Yabba Creek Rd which IIRC is the lead in to the main Imbil spectator area. I did see a chopper go overhead at one time but just assumed it was the press.

'64 would be when the event's predecessor was first run. I can't ever remember a rally death in a Qld event before. Very sad.
